William Colton
William E. Colton, of Lawrence, died Saturday at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton. He was 90.
Born in East Newark, he had resided in North Arlington and Spring Lake for over 50 years before moving to Chapel Hill, N.C. and returning to this area three years ago.
Mr. Colton was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He worked for PSE&G as an operating technician for 40 years at the Marion Generating Station in Jersey City.
He is survived by his wife, Frances M. Nolan Colton; his three sons and daughters-in-law, William F. and JoAnn Colton, Robert and Irene Colton and Dennis and Kathleen Colton; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Martin Elwood and Sharon and John Sanady; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Wednesday at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road. Entombment was in St. Catherine’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Spring Lake.

Robert Fuessel
Robert B. Fuessel, of Lawrence, died May 8 at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, in Willingboro. He was 66.
Born in Trenton, he was a life long Lawrence resident.
Mr. Fuessel, along with his brother, were the co-owners of Fuessel Tank and Pump Service Inc., of Lawrence.
He was a member of the Church of Saint Ann and served as an usher at the church. He also was a veteran of the 112th Field Artillery of the N.J. National Guard and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant.
Son of the late Rudolph A. and Mary Lownie Fuessel, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan Maziarz Fuessel; his sons, Robert B. Fuessel Jr., and Scott Fuessel and his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Barry Hickey, all of Lawrence; his grandsons, Barry Thomas Hickey Jr. and Shane Patrick Hickey; his sister, June Woodward and her husband, Douglas, of Exton, Pa.; his brother, Rudolph A. Fuessel Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Lawrence; two sisters-in-law, Veronica Krawczun and husband Walter, of Mystic Island, and Stella Cannata and husband Gary, of Wheatley Heights, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews; and Harley, his "buddy."
The funeral was held on Saturday at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road. Entombment was in the Madonna Mausoleum at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.

George Armitage
George Charles Armitage Jr., of Hamilton Court, in Lawrence, died May 7 at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital, Trenton. He was 77.
Born Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1929 in Halton, Pa., he was the son of the late George Charles Armitage Sr. and the late Beulah Pauline Hidinger Armitage. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Lee Johnston Armitage in 2005.
Mr. Armitage was a 1947 graduate of Arnold High School in Arnold, Pa. and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a military policeman from 1951 to 1959. He was employed as a security policeman with the Federal Aviation Administration at Dulles Airport, where he was part of a sharp shooting team that foiled a plan to hijack a plane on June 4, 1970, for which he was awarded the Medal of Valor.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda L. Ritchie, of Hagerstown, Md.; one son, James C. Armitage, of Lawrence; a sister, Edith Huntsman, of Butler, Pa.; four grandsons, Matthew Armitage, of Middletown, Md., Brett Ritchie, of Hagerstown, Md., Mitchell Armitage, of San Francisco, Calif., and Thomas Armitage, of Lawrence; one granddaughter, Krystal Fistere, of Frederick, Md.; and one great-grandchild due in August.
Services were held Friday at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown, Md. Private interment was in the Pleasant View Memorial Gardens, Martinsburg, W.V.

Alice Caulfield
Alice M. (Masuy) Caulfield died Friday at Capital Health System in Trenton. She was 85.
Born and raised in Plainfield, Mrs. Caulfield resided in South Plainfield for 50 years. For the past three years, she resided at St. Mary’s at Morris Hall, in Lawrence.
A former member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield, she volunteered at Muhenberg Regional Medical Center, in Plainfield. Past president of the South Plainfield Senior Citizens, she served on the Senior Citizens Advisory Council at the South Plainfield Adult School. Mrs. Caulfield was also a member of the knit and chatting group in St. Mary’s at Morris Hall, in Lawrence.
She was predeceased by her husband, James, who died in 1990 and her sister. Surviving are her son, James, and his wife, Meg, of Pennington, and two grandchildren, Katie and Jim Caulfield.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, South Plainfield. Entombment followed in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
Robert Wilson
HIGHTSTOWN Robert A. "Bob" Wilson, 69, of Hightstown and Long Beach Island, died May 10 after a battle with cancer. He was 69.
He received his education in the Hightstown school system and the Peddie School and played soccer and basketball for both schools. He attended Rider College (now Rider University) and served in the New Jersey National Guard. Mr. Wilson continued playing basketball in recreation leagues throughout his young adulthood.
He was President of Gordon & Wilson Company, the family business which was established in 1935. He was a member of the Hightstown Lions Club, Jaycees, and coached St. Anthony’s CYO Basketball. He divided his time between Hightstown and his home on Long Beach Island. Upon his retirement, he traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Caribbean, with Switzerland being his favorite destination.
Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Betty Wilson; he is survived by his life partner, Carol Erickson; three children, Robert Jr., of Bordentown, Scott and his wife, Laurie, of Lawrence Township, and Lori and her husband, Tim Huck, of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren, Erin, Jonathan, Collin, Bryan and Aidan Wilson and Jordan Huck; his former wife, Nancy Wilson, of Plainsboro; his sister, Jeri Wilson and her friend, Lil Blazakis, of East Windsor; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, Hightstown. Private cremation to follow.
Jane Monsport
PARSIPPANY Jane Shea Monsport died after a short illness at home May 6. She was 86.
Born in South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Richard O’Brien Shea.
Mrs. Monsport was a graduate of Central High School, in Bridgeport, Conn., and the Maryland College for Women, in Lutherville, Md.
She was a past resident of South Carolina, the Panama Canal Zone, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Jersey. She married Lt. Eugene J. Monsport USN in 1944 and lived as a Navy wife in Virginia, Florida and California. She lived in Parsippany from 1964 until her death.
Mrs. Monsport was president of Air Tool Specialists Inc, of Tabor, N.J., from 1973 to 2004. She was a founding member of the Friends of the Parsippany Library.
Predeceased by her husband, Eugene; brother Richard O’Brien Shea Jr. She is survived by three sons, Weldon Shea Monsport and Michael Monsport, both of Morris Plains; John Monsport and his wife, Dawn, of Lawrence; and four grandchildren, Michael Monsport Jr., of Hampton Township, Hannah Mae Monsport, of Sanford, N.C., and Thomas and Justin Monsport, of Lawrence.

Gloria Zoll
PENNINGTON Gloria W. Zoll died May 3 in the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Boston, Mass., she was a former resident of Newton, Mass. and a graduate of Boston University.
Mrs. Zoll was an educational specialist for the Massachusetts Department of Education before retiring.
She was the wife of David Zoll, mother of Amy Zoll, of Brookline, Mass., Jonathan Zoll and his wife Jody, of Lawrence; grandmother of Hannah, Sarah and Jennifer.
Funeral services were May 6 at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing Township.
