Olga Mulvey Hoff
Mrs. Hoff, 95, of Long Branch, died March 14, 2007, at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, following a brief illness. Born in Newark, she resided there prior to relocating to Long Branch. She was employed in retail sales for department stores, as a Welcome Wagon hostess, and as an assembler at Electronic Associates Inc., Oceanport, prior to retirement. She was an inspector on the assembly line at Grumman Avenger Naval Aircraft during World War II, and was awarded a Rosie the Riveter Certificate for her service. She was a parishioner at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Newark, and was actively involved in St. James Episcopal Church, Long Branch. She was a former assistant Girl Scout leader. Her memberships included Long Branch Historical Society, the Long Branch Women’s Club, Oceanport Garden Club and the Holland Society of New York. She was a supporter of Clean Ocean Action and North Long Branch Community Center. She was an avid gardener and tennis player. She was predeceased by her first husband, Eugene Mulvey; her husband, Nelson Hoff; and a brother, Kenneth Cadmus. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marina Mulvey Christopher and Gregory J. Christopher of West Long Branch; a sister, Helen Davidson; a stepson and his wife, Richard and Ann Hoff of Foley, Ala.; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; a step-granddaughter; a sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at St. James Church. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. Charlotte E. Madusky
Mrs. Madusky, 87, of Red Bank, died May 12, 2007, at her daughter’s home in Tinton Falls. She resided in Red Bank for more than 60 years. She was office manager for Seaboard Service, Long Branch, for more than 50 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the State PTA of New Jersey, and Red Bank PTA, and served on the Red Bank Board of Education. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph B. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph R. and Rita of Ellenwood, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Schiafone of Tinton Falls; a sister, Margaret Matthews of Atlantic Highlands; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be May 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. A funeral service will be May 18 at 10 a.m. at the funeral hone, followed by entombment at Woodbine Cemetery Mausoleum, Oceanport. Mary R. Ciszeski
Mrs. Ciszeski, 83, of the Belford section of Middletown, died May 10, 2007, at home. She was born in Aberdeen. She was a retired housekeeper at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown. She was a member of Lady Mount Carmel at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She enjoyed bingo, dancing, cooking and Atlantic City. She was predeceased by her husband, John Ciszeski. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Armand LaGuardia of Belford; a sister, Faye Caprioni of Shrewsbury; a brother and sister-in-law, Vincent and Joyce Vinci of Aberdeen; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo section of Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Helen T. McVey
Mrs. McVey, 91, of Holmdel, died May 8, 2007, at Care One at Holmdel. She resided in the Lincroft section of Middletown, Fair Haven, and Red Bank from 1944 until she relocated to Holmdel in March. She was a quality assurance auditor at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 30 years, retiring in 1973. She was a former communicant of Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven, and a Eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Colts Neck. She was predeceased by her husband, William T. McVey. She is survived by three sisters, Sophia Tekien of Lincroft, Lilyann Tekien of Whiting, and Wanda Wessel of Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
Nathan Joseph Tomaino
Mr. Tomaino, 75, of Shrewsbury, died April 20, 2007, at home, following a battle with cancer. He was a crossing guard for Shrewsbury Borough for 12 years, retiring in 2006. Prior to that, he was a master sergeant with the HHC 2-114th Infantry, retiring in 1991. He also served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, from 1950 to 1954. Mr. Tomaino was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 168, Red Bank. He was predeceased by two brothers, James and Bruno; and two sisters, Mary Tomaino and Jenny Rowe. Mr. Tomaino is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Brown Tomaino; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Nathan Tomaino of Shrewsbury, and John and Patricia Tomaino of Red Bank; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Rose Marie Lister and Angie Fedor, both of Eatontown, and Patricia and Paul Serafino of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Karole Tomaino of Reidsville, N.C., Joseph and Gladys Tomaino of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, and Richard and Carolyn Tomaino of Middletown; a sister-in-law, Carmella Brown of the River Plaza section of Middletown; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony’s Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
