HHS softballers eliminated in states

Errors, lack of timely hits costly

The Hillsborough High softball team won’t be returning to the Central Jersey Group 4 final.
Last year’s sectional runner-up was knocked out in the first round of this year’s CJ 4 tournament Tuesday afternoon at Colts Neck. The Raiders played poorly on defense with three errors and couldn’t get a key hit in the 3-0 loss.
Sixth-ranked Colts Neck (19-7) scored three unearned runs in the game, including two in the first inning that HHS head coach Cheryl Iaione said "took the wind out of our sails."
Hillsborough (11-10) managed only three base hits in the game, all singles. Losing pitcher Megan McInaw struck out 10 and allowed only four hits, including a two-run double in the first.
