Four generations of the Annarella family were on hand when Shore Point Distributing Co., a local beer distributor, now at Three Brooks Road, Freehold, recently broke ground at its new location for a 270,000-square-foot facility with 25,000 square feet of office space on a 30-acre site in Freehold.
The Annarella family, now owned and operated by the second and third generations, has owned and operated Shore Point since 1933 when James Annarella, an auto mechanic, started the company in an ice house in Little Silver. The first product in 1933 was Horton’s beer. In 1934, the fledgling company began distributing Schaefer beer.
When Shore Point acquired Coors in 1987, the company moved to Freehold for more space. Today Shore Point Distributing and the Annarella family employ more than 200 workers and distribute products in Warren, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties. They hope to be in their new facility at 100 Shore Point Lane, near Route 33 in Freehold, by the early part of 2008.
Daniel A. Finn, vice president of Greater Media New Jersey, says, “Shore Point Distributing is one of the most respected operations in the entire industry. They are definitely forward thinkers, and the ground breaking of their new facility is a prime example of great things to come. I am proud to say we are true partners in all the business we conduct together, and I wish Shore Point tremendous, continued success in their new home.”
Besides Coors, their products now include Blue Moon, Molson, Killian’s, Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada, Yuengling, Magic Hat, Corona, Brooklyn Brewery, Mike’s Hard Lemonade and Twisted Tea.
