The polls will be open for 14 hours for Tuesday’s primary election but local residents have no choices to make when it comes to their local leaders.
In East Windsor, incumbent Township Council members Janice Mironov, Walter Daniels Jr., Marsha Weinstein and Marc Lippman are seeking the Democratic nominations for four open seats. The local Republican party has put forth three candidates for the four openings: Aaron Sears, Carol Higgins and Nick Di Dia. Mr. Sears is a member of the Twin Rivers board of directors; Ms. Higgins is a Realtor; and Mr. Di Dia is a retired electrician. The latter two have run for council unsuccessfully in the past.
In Hightstown, where two seats are open on the Borough Council, incumbent Walter Sikorski is seeking the nomination along with local businessman and former Planning Board member Jeff Bond. Incumbent Democrat Patrick Thompson is not seeking another nomination. On the Republican side, Mike Theokas, owner of Theo’s Lakeside Tavern, is the lone candidate.
The polls open at 6 a.m.
