Dust off your bikes and stretch your quads, Cranbury. The third annual Cranbury Area Mother’s Club Bike-A-Thon will be held Sunday, and everyone is encouraged to participate.
From 4 to 6:30 p.m., participants are invited to bike, walk, stroll, jog or scooter the paths in Village Park three times. A smaller loop will be available for younger children. All proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of New Brunswick.
The house provides a temporary residence for families so they can be closer to area hospitals while their children receive medial care, according to Lisa O’Donnell, Mother’s Club philanthropic co-coordinator.
The contribution fee of $5 per child or $15 per family goes directly to the charity. Participants also are encouraged to get dinner from Cranbury Pizza, which plans to make a donation to the same charity for each order placed Sunday evening if the Bike-A-Thon is mentioned during the order.
In addition to the Bike-A-Thon main event, an inflatable bouncer sponsored by the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and a balloon sculptor provided by the Cranbury Area Mother’s Club will be in the park. Children who participate will receive a complimentary medal and a snack.
The Mother’s Club also encourages participants to bring a pantry item, paper supplies or household cleaning item to help replenish the Ronald McDonald House’s stock.
"This is a community event to raise money for a very worthy cause," wrote Ms. O’Donnell.
