The state Motor Vehicle Commission mobile unit will visit Princeton on June 19 to issue the new digital photo licenses and ID’s by appointment from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It will be parked at the Suzanne Patterson Building, in the Monument Drive parking lot of Princeton Borough Hall.
The unit is open to adults who meet the six points of ID and proof of address requirements to obtain the new digital photo ID state driver’s license.
The new license or ID will not only serve as a qualified photo ID, but is designed with almost two dozen counterfeit-proof security features to prevent identity fraud. The Motor Vehicle Commission is phasing in these new licenses for those coming up for renewal this year and 2008. Non-photo ID’s can no longer be renewed by mail.
To obtain a digital license or ID on June 19, residents must call the Princeton Senior Resource Center for an appointment and bring to the appointment six points of ID and payment by personal check or money order only: $11 to convert to digital, or $24 for a digital license or ID that is new or up for renewal within six months. No cash will be accepted. Do not fill out the check before you arrive as fees may vary.
Appointments will be given on a first-come basis, with a priority for disabled and adults over 65. Others can register for an appointment if slots are available.
This will probably be the only visit of the mobile unit this year.
Call the Princeton Senior Resource Center at (609) 924-7108.
