John Brady

   RALEIGH, N.C. — John Christian Brady, 53, died at home in Raleigh, N. C., Wednesday, April 25, after a lengthy illness.
   Born in Doylestown, he attended Woodhill Elementary School (now Sol Feinstone), graduated from New Hope High School in 1971 and attended Bucks County Community College.
   He moved from New Hope to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., then settled in Raleigh in 1978.
   He worked in construction.
   He was the son of the late Drew W. Brady.
   Surviving are his mother, Jeanne W. Brady of Doylestown; his sister, Jay W. Brady of Brooklyn; three brothers, Drew W. Brady Jr. and William R. Brady, both of New Hope, and David F. Brady of Kittery Point, Maine; his wife, Carol J. Goodson of Raleigh; and two sons, Brian W. Brady of Charleston, S.C., and Jeffrey A. Brady of Raleigh.
   A memorial service will be held at Solebury Friends Meetinghouse in Solebury on Sunday, June 17, at 2 p.m.

Norman Raike

   NEW HOPE — Norman Thompson Raike, 85, of New Hope died Tuesday, June 5, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa.
   Born in Trenton, Mr. Raike was raised at the Tabor Home in Doylestown.
   He has been a New Hope-Solebury area resident for more than 60 years.
   A carpenter, he retired from Zaveta Construction Company 20 years ago. Earlier, he worked for Niece Lumber as a window installer and for Diamond Silver Company as a drop hammer operator, both of Lambertville.
   He was a member of the Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Solebury.
   An Air Force veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater.
   Mr. Raike was a charter member and chaplain for the VFW Post 7921 in Lambertville and a member and chaplain for the Edgar H. Denson American Legion Post 79 in New Hope.
   He was a member of the New Hope-Solebury Seniors.
   He formerly managed a New Hope Little League team and served as a Scout leader for Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 34 in Solebury.
   He was the son of the late George and Mabel Bennett Raike.
   Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Elinor Fischer Raike; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Thomas Crews of New Hope and Judith and Alfred Marro of Marana, Ariz. his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Linda Raike of Milford, N.J.; four grandsons and their wives, Shawn and Sara Crews of Easton, Timothy and Johari Crews of Churchville, Adam and Chris Crews of Bedminster and Steven and Michelle Raike of Easton; his granddaughter, Rachel Crews of New Hope; his great-grandchildren, Tyler Crews, Dylan Raike and Corissa Raike, all of Easton; two sisters, Kathryn Strowig of Havertown, Pa., and Frances Wiley of Spring Hill, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were held Saturday at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, Lambertville. The Rev. Stuart Spencer, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
