A Princeton Borough patrol officer was suspended without pay for 60 days May 9 due to misconduct that occurred after he stopped a female motorist for speeding.
Borough Police Chief Anthony Federico said the misconduct came to light during a review of the video of the motor vehicle stop by the officer’s superior.
He said he could not reveal the identity of the officer or more details about the incident because it is an internal affairs matter.
"It was a very bad, in my opinion, lack of judgment on the part of an officer," he said.
According to Chief Federico, sergeants regularly review the videos taken from the police cruisers during motor vehicle stops.
"The stops are reviewed to make sure that the officers are performing their duties and functions in a correct manner," he said. "Each sergeant is required to submit a report of his squad’s performance on a monthly basis."
Chief Federico said each sergeant reviews five stops each month.
