The Coalition for Peace Action will host its seventh annual Peace is Patriotic event Monday that includes a picnic at Monument Park in front of Princeton Borough Hall followed by a program of speakers at Nassau Presbyterian Church.
The bring-your-own picnic will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. and participants are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. No alcoholic beverages are permitted and in event of rain it will be canceled.
The speaking program will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church, 61 Nassau St.
Speakers will include Patrick Eddington, senior policy advisor for defense and intelligence to Rep. Rush Holt (D-12). Mr. Eddington formerly was a military analyst with the CIA, and lobbied for health concerns for veterans returning from the first Gulf War.
Also speaking will be William Potter, a Princeton attorney who will review the Princeton Plan that helped end the Vietnam War by targeting lobbying efforts at swing Republicans to oppose continued funding for that war.
Also making an address will be attorney Grayson Barber, who works with the American Civil Liberties Union and Sarita Rosenstock, a leader with NJ Students for Peace. The Rev. Robert Moore, executive director of the coalition, will be the emcee.
John Kasper, a singer-songwriter and peace activist from Whitehorse Station, will provide music at the event.
Both the picnic and the Peace is Patriotic Program are free and open to the public. Those planning to participate are encouraged to wear patriotic clothing or carry patriotic symbols.
