Ballroom dancing
Sunday, July 8 The Widows and Widowers of Burlington County will hold their monthly social evening of music and dance. Enjoy ballroom dancing from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 147 Route 130 North, Bordentown. Admission costs $7 for members and $10 for guests.

Youth summer program
Beginning Monday, July 9 Bordentown City, the Bordentown Good Neighbor Guild and Bordentown corporations, clubs and lodges are sponsoring the Bordentown Youth Summer Program from Monday, July 9, through Friday, Aug. 3.
The program is geared toward youth ages 12 to 17 and is free. CPR/First Aid training and gang awareness instruction will be provided. Each day will begin with a free lunch at noon at the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Bordentown. Activities will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. and athletics will start at 6 p.m. at participating locations.
The sponsors of the program are asking for support by way of supplies and volunteers. Any person who would like to volunteer is asked to call as soon as possible.

Vacation Bible school
Beginning Monday, July 9 The Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church of Bordentown will hold a vacation Bible school called "Avalanche Ranch," filled with Bible adventures, songs, crafts and life-changing missions.
The adventure will be held at Clara Barton Elementary School on Crosswicks Street from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13. A light dinner will be served from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. The fun begins with a wild ride through God’s Word, with age-appropriate activities for every rancher from ages 3 to 5 to teens and adults 18 and over.

MOMS Club meeting
Thursday, July 12 Come to meet other stay-at-home or part-time working moms in the community at a 10 a.m. MOMS Club meeting. The club is open to residents of Roebling, Florence, Bordentown, Fieldsboro and Mansfield. Refreshments are served and children are always welcome.

Art show
Friday, July 13, to Friday, Aug. 31 The Artful Deposit Gallery will display the art of Michael Budden in a show titled "Seasons Along the Delaware River." The public is invited to attend the opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 13.
Honoree celebration and roast dinner
Saturday, July 14 A roast dinner and celebration honoring members of the Bordentown area who have a long family history and/or many years of dedicated service to the community will take place at the Scottish Rite facility, located at 103 Dunns Mill Road in Bordentown Township. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the grande buffet opens at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $35 and are limited.

Historic walk
Saturday, July 14 The Thomas Paine Society of Bordentown will host a historic walk through Bordentown City at 3:30 p.m. Town innkeeper Deborah Applegate, one of Paine’s closest confidantes, will host the walk through 325 years of revolutionary history.

Vacation Bible school
Monday, July 16, through Friday, July 20 Chesterfield Baptist Church invites all the children in Chesterfield and the surrounding communities to SonForce Kids.
At SonForce Kids, children will have a great time singing, watching skits, creating crafts and playing games. But most importantly, they’ll discover how to have courage as God’s special agents.

Golf tournament
Monday, July 16 The Bordentown Rotary will hold its annual golf tournament at Olde York Country Club. There will be prizes awarded for a hole in one, long drive and closest to the pin.
A continental breakfast will be served, as well as a luncheon and awards ceremony at close. The fee is $170 per person, and checks may be made payable to Bordentown Rotary. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the start time is 10 a.m.
Hole sponsors are needed to fund area youth projects. Last year, the rotary funded the construction of two new dugouts at Gilder Park. This year, they are funding the renovation of four Bordentown softball fields. For $100, you may be a hole sponsor, and your business name will be placed on tee boxes. For $150, you may be a Cigar Rolling Sponsor.

Family and friends day
Sunday, July 22 Shiloh Baptist Church will hold a family and friends day at 3:30 p.m. at the church, which is located at 104 and ½ Elizabeth Street in Bordentown City. The guest speaker will be the Rev. John H. West, III, of the Siloam Baptist Church. Dinner and fellowship will follow the service. Proceeds benefit Women’s Day 2007.

Soccer camp
Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3 The Florence Township Soccer Association will host the New York Red Bulls Soccer Camp for children ages 5 to 17. The camp will start at 9 a.m. at Veterans Field, on Broad Street near the municipal building.

Hoagie sale
Friday, Aug. 3, and Saturday, Aug. 4 The Florence Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 will hold a hoagie sale at the new firehouse, located at 401 Firehouse Lane from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until supplies sell out Saturday.

Casino trip
Sunday, Aug. 5 The Knights of Columbus No. 570 are sponsoring a trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. The bus will depart from the St. Mary’s Church parking lot on Elizabeth Street in Bordentown at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay at the casino. The cost is $20, and each attendee will receive $20 in cash.

Day Camp
Tuesday, Sep. 4, to Friday, Sep. 7 The Fernbrook Farms Education Center’s summer day camp program is being extended for Bordentown residents. From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. children ages 6 to 11 can choose activities they want to participate in such as exploring ponds, collecting vegetables, and making musical instruments.

Charter tuna fishing trip
Thursday, Sep. 20, to Friday, Sep. 21 A 30-hour fishing trip is planned for members of the Cookstown and Bordentown areas. The trip will take place from 9 a.m. Thursday, Sep. 20, to 3 p.m. Friday, Sep. 21. Be at the dock one hour prior to departure.
The 85-foot long boat sails from Fishermen’s Supply Co., 69 Channel Drive, Point Pleasant Beach. The trip costs $395 per person. The price includes rods, reels, all terminal tackle, bait and gratuity. All fish will also be cleaned and bagged. The fish will be divided evenly so that everyone goes home with some fish.

Nicotine Anonymous
Fridays Nicotine Anonymous meetings are held Fridays at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton in the second floor library from 7 to 8 p.m. The hospital is located on Hamilton Square Road in Hamilton.
The meeting is open to anyone who has the desire to stop using nicotine. You need not have quit to attend. There are no dues or fees.

Grant and loan program
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection currently has a Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Remediation, Upgrade & Closure Fund (UST Fund) grant and loan program available to both homeowners and commercial property owners for funding remediation of contamination caused by leaking underground storage tanks.
Recent legislative changes have added a non-leaking tank component to the UST Fund, which awards grants for the proactive removal and replacement of homeowner heating oil tanks.
