‘Freehold Idol’ seeks singers

FREEHOLD – Anyone who has aspirations of singing their heart out on the way to fame and fortune may enter the “Freehold Idol” competition sponsored by the Freehold Center Partnership as part of its Summer Concert Series.

The partnership has launched a statewide talent search for the “Freehold Idol.” Auditions will be held Wednesdays through Aug. 8 from 7-9 p.m. at the East Main Street gazebo.

All contestants must be preregistered and be a 2007 high school graduate or between the ages of 18 and 27. All entrants will be required to show proof of residency and age. Registration forms to audition can be found at www.allenconsulting.com or www.freeholdcenter.com. There is a $5 nonrefundable registration fee for all entrants.

The partnership will provide the sound system; however, contestants must bring their own background CDs for musical accompaniment and be prepared to perform a three- to five-minute song. One winning “idol” will be selected at each audition night and will compete to become the “Freehold Idol” in the final competition on Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.

The “Freehold Idol” winner will receive three hours of studio time to record a demo, $500 cash and cruise for four people. The second- and third-place finishers will be awarded cash prizes of $250 and $100, respectively.
