Grand jury charges Hamilton men with aggravated manslaughter

WEST WINDSOR Two Hamilton men accused of killing a Hamilton man outside of a West Windsor apartment complex in 2006 were indicted on aggravated manslaughter charges last week by a Mercer County grand jury.
Richard Saunders, 20, and Desmond Larry, 19, were also indicted on weapons charges stemming from the beating death of Thomas P. Meisner, 28, in front of the Avalon Watch Apartments complex off of Clarksville Road, on June 15, 2006.
Mr. Saunders received a weapons indictment for his use of a rock, and Mr. Larry received a weapons indictment for his use of a bottle in the incident, according to officials from the prosecutor’s officer.
For the manslaughter charges the two men face 10 to 30 years in jail.
A juvenile cooperating with portions of the investigation received a sentence of three years of incarceration.
During a presentation of the case to the grand jury by Assistant Prosecutor Doris Galuchie, she said Mr. Larry became angered with Mr. Meisner following a traffic stop by area police earlier in the evening.
Mr. Larry struck Mr. Meisner over the head with a beer bottle, at which point others pursued him, Ms. Galuchie said during her presentation.
He was soon beaten to death and his body was left outside the apartment complex.
Both Mr. Larry and Mr. Saunders continue to be in police custody.
