New international headquarters building is at 225 Hopewell-Pennington Road
On Tuesday, July 17, Music Together LLC, a pioneer in early childhood music and movement, will have an open house from 48 p.m. to officially welcome the community to its new international headquarters at 225 Hopewell-Pennington Road.
Activities planned include Music Together demonstration classes at 4:30 and 6 p.m. Founder/director Kenneth K. Guilmartin will be on hand to lead the celebration and discuss the Music Together program. In addition, the public is invited to tour the new headquarters with its geothermal heating/cooling system, meet the Music Together staff, and learn more about their work in licensing, center development, publishing and educational events. A wine and cheese reception will take place throughout the event.
"We’re excited about our move to the new location and we want to share that excitement with the local community, including both those who are familiar with us and those who have not yet experienced the joy of family music-making," said Mr. Guilmartin. "Everyone’s welcome and we hope as many people as possible can join us for our celebration."
The entirely renovated, 13,000-square-foot facility, formerly the home of restaurants such as Charlie’s Brother and Tomato Grill, features a cathedral-ceiling entryway and lobby, a classroom with special dance flooring, and a large community room. This 150-person capacity room is equipped with a grand piano and will soon have a state-of-the-art sound system.
According to Mr. Guilmartin, Music Together is "particularly proud of the building’s environmentally friendly geothermal heating and cooling system. This energy-efficient system uses deep underground wells to transfer heat to the ground in the summer and extract heat from the ground in the winter, thereby providing air conditioning and heat using far less energy than traditional heating/cooling systems."
The new building houses approximately 30 Music Together LLC employees who began moving into the space late last year. The company is retaining its previous headquarters on Witherspoon Street in Princeton as the home for its lab school and research/development arm, the Center for Music and Young Children.
