Potluck picnic in Hopewell fetes local foods

It’s Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Hopewell Park

On July 15, there will be a potluck picnic to celebrate local food, agriculture and community at the Hopewell Borough Park, South Greenwood and Columbia avenues, from 5-7 p.m.
This will be a celebration of local food produced in the surrounding area. The idea is to bring a potluck dish to share made with as much locally produced food as possible.
What is local? "If you know an artisan bread baker, cheese maker, meat producer, fruit grower, vegetable or wheat farmer, honey harvester within 50 miles of Hopewell, that’s local. The list goes on and on. The idea is to share this information with your neighbors and then we will be building a stronger local economy and supporting our local food system," said a spokeswoman.
As the seasons change, so do the local foods available. Sunday’s will be the first of three potluck picnics. The next will be held Aug. 19 and Sept. 15. There are also many local farmers’ markets, including the Hopewell Farmer’s Market every Wednesday from 2-7 p.m. at the Hopewell Railroad Station.
Bring plates, utensils, beverages and a blanket.
