Carl E. Fogelin

   Carl Edward Fogelin of Tallahassee, Fla., and former resident of Rossmoor, died Saturday, July 7, at the Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee.
   Born in 1924 in Congers, N.Y., to Carl A. and Florence Sandberg Fogelin, he lived for 30 years in Princeton Junction and then 14 years in Monroe. He had recently made Tallahassee his permanent residence.
   He was a research scientist who spent his career with American Cyanamid, first at the Lederle Labs in Pearl River, N.Y., and later at the Agricultural Center in Princeton Junction, where he rode to the position of director of product development.
   He attended New York University and received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering.
   He married Maria Bontempi on Jan. 7, 1950. Se died in 1996.
   During his years in Princeton Junction, he served as the president of the West Windsor Board of Health. After his retirement, he was a tutor for the bilingual program at Woodrow Wilson Grammar School in Trenton. He was an avid gardener, walker and observer of nature. He and his dog, Moo, were familiar figures on their daily walks through Rossmoor.
   He is survived by his three children, Adrian of Tallahassee, Fla., Claudia of New York City, and Carl Christian of Durham, N.C.; a brother, Robert John of Hanover, N.H.; and three grandchildren, Josie Faass, Malcolm Rosenthal and Maggie Rosenthal.
   Friends and family are invited to gather at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 113 Lake Road East, Congers, N.Y., from 10 a.m. until noon today (Friday), July 13. Words of remembrance will be spoken at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rockland Cemetery in Tappan, N.Y.
