There is now a simple and delicious way to support the garden at Princeton’s Johnson Park Elementary School. Every time you buy a pint of Princeton School Garden Fundraiser Ice Cream, the money from your purchase goes directly to that school’s garden. The special ice cream is handmade at Princeton’s own bent spoon artisan ice cream and is available only at the Whole Earth Center, Princeton’s 37-year-old natural foods grocery.
The bent spoon and Whole Earth Center have teamed up to raise money for the gardens at the four Princeton elementary schools. Each month the bent spoon makes about 100 pints of a special ice cream or sorbet that is available only at the Whole Earth Center. For each pint of ice cream sold, $7 is donated to the Princeton school gardens. The remaining 50 cents go back to bent spoon to cover the cost of the reusable plastic ice cream container.
The first fundraiser flavor for Johnson Park is Chocolate Mint. This dark chocolate ice cream is flavored with mint that was harvested by a group of Johnson Park pupils from their school garden and the garden at Riverside School.
The Whole Earth Center is located at 360 Nassau St., Princeton.
