James Peter ‘Bubsy’ Cummiskey Sr.
Mr. Cummiskey, 56, of Howell, died June 25, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born and raised in the New Brighton section of Staten Island, N.Y., he had lived in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island before moving to Howell in 1986. He was a U. S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam era. Mr. Cummiskey played high school basketball for St. Peter’s High School for Boys, Staten Island. He was a letter carrier for more than 31 years, working in the St. George and Tottenville post offices in Staten Island. After retiring, he worked for the Lakewood Blue Claws, Lakewood. He was predeceased by his father, Albert “Bubs” Cummiskey, in 1999, and a sister, Mary Ellenn Cummiskey. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Janice Cummiskey of Howell; a son, James Peter Cummiskey Jr. of Jackson; two daughters, Keri Cummiskey of Jackson, and Kelly Cummiskey and her fiancée, Matthew Ginsberg of Freehold; his mother, Betty Cummiskey of Staten Island; four sisters, Maureen Ortel of Manchester, Betsy Cummiskey of Staten Island, Jeannie Holder of Staten Island, and Lynn Olson of Roselle Park. A funeral Mass was offered at The Church of St. Veronica, Howell, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery, Arnytown. Steve Kevin Canty
Mr. Canty, 46, of Howell, died June 30, 2007, at Frankford Hospital, Philadelphia. He was born in Neptune. During his years in New Jersey, he worked in accounting and sales and was most recently employed by the Philadelphia Eagles’ sales department. He was also a counselor at New Beginning, Philadelphia. Mr. Canty graduated in 1978 from Neptune Township High School, where he excelled at football. He received an associate in applied science degree from Chamberlayne Junior College, Boston, in 1980 and also completed one year at Bowie State University, Bowie, Md., where he was a member of the football team. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Asbury Park, and was active in the church’s choir and youth ministries. Surviving are his children, Kevin and Alim, of Philadelphia, and Stephaney of Asbury Park; his mother and stepfather, Crystal and the Rev. Frederick Parrish; his father and stepmother, Frank and Lorrie Hoosendove of Freeport, N.Y.; three sisters, Tracey Calderon of Neptune, and Rachel Hoosendove and Dawn Askew-Woodward, both of Freeport; a brother, Mark Hoosendove, also of Freeport; his maternal grandmother, Fannie B. Lindsey of Neptune; four grandchildren; two aunts; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and many friends. Funeral services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Mary Elodee (McGovern) Dohrmann
Mrs. Dohrmann, 85, of Howell, died June 30, 2007. She was born in Newburgh, N.Y., and had resided in Cranbury for more than 30 years before moving to Whiting and then recently to Howell. A graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, she was a controller at Stewart Air Force Base in New York and a columnist for the Newburgh Star. After moving to New Jersey, Mrs. Dohrmann worked for The McGraw-Hill Cos. prior to retiring. She was a past member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Hightstown. She was also a member of American Legion Post No. 148, Hightstown, and a past member of the Jamesburg Elks No. 2180 Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Dohrmann Sr., in 1999, and a son, William F. Dohrmann Jr., in 1994. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Robert Wilmer of Hightstown, and Elodee and Edward Hughes of Howell, with whom she lived; four grandsons; twin granddaughters and an honorary granddaughter; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces. Funeral services were held at the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, followed by interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, both of Hightstown.
Charlotte Thomas
Mrs. Thomas, 78, of Freehold Township, died June 30, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived there and in Long Branch before moving to the Silvermead section of Freehold Township in 1993. Mrs. Thomas was a printing supervisor for U.S. Life, Neptune, for 10 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that, she had worked for 50 State Life Insurance Co., Neptune. She also worked as a home health aide. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Freehold, and past president of the Freehold Women’s Club. Mrs. Thomas was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Arnold, in 1996, and a son-in-law, Phillip, in 2005. Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Castello and Janet Anastasio; two brothers-in-law, William and Bernard Thomas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; A funeral service was held at Hope Lutheran Church, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Stella O. Adams
Mrs. Adams, 89, of Freehold Township, died July 1, 2007, at Monmouth Crossing, Freehold Township. Born in Ozone Park, N.Y., she had lived in Howell before moving to Freehold Township in 2003. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1988; and a son, Dennis J., in 1997. Surviving are a son, Charles Adams Jr. of Barnegat; a daughter, Maureen Milek of Jamesburg; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were private and were held under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
Frank Durand Jr.
Mr. Durand, 83, of Freehold Township, died July 1, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Sea Girt, he had resided in Freehold, Las Vegas, Colts Neck, Toms River and Lakewood before returning to Freehold. Mr. Durand and his wife were the owners and operators of the White Sands Motel, Las Vegas. Prior to that, he was the proprietor of Durand’s Men’s Shop, Freehold. Mr. Durand was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Admiral Farragut Academy, Beachwood, and attended Duke University, Durham, N.C. He was a past president of the Freehold Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International; and a former member of the Good Will Hook and Ladder Company of the Freehold Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Courtney Durand. Services were held at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan, under the direction of the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
Florence Foytik
Mrs. Foytik, 64, of Freehold, died July 2, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Elizabeth, she had resided in Linden for 34 years and Edison for 22 years prior to moving to Freehold eight years ago. She was a registered nurse and had worked for Union Hospital, an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, Union, for 22 years. She worked for Imperial Care Center, Neptune, for the past seven years, retiring in 2006. Mrs. Foytik was an Eucharistic minister for St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, Adam Foytik, in 1995/ She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, April and Brandon Elimanco of Freehold; three brothers, William Phillips of Elizabeth. Robert Phillips of Tuckerton. and John Phillips of Linden; two sisters, Patricia Donahue of Elizabeth and Judith Phillips of Linden; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church. Louise Martha Fedon Kuchinski
Mrs. Kuchinski, 86, of Englishtown, died July 1, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Middlesex and grew up in the Tennent section of Manalapan before retiring to North Carolina. She later moved to Pennsylvania before returning to New Jersey. A longtime resident of Tennent, she attended the Monmouth County school system. Her parents were the original owners and builders of Olde Silver Tavern, Tennent. Mrs. Kuchinski was a full-time homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Henry Joseph Kuchinski Sr.; a brother, Johan Fedon; and two sisters, Ruth and Stella. She is survived by a son, Henry “Hank” Joseph, and his wife, Paula; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A memorial service was held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by a graveside service at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
Doris I. Allerton
Mrs. Allerton, 79, of Freehold Township, died July 10, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Newark and had resided in Freehold Township for more than 55 years. Mrs. Allerton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold, a former member of the Townley Presbyterian Church, Union, and a former Sunday school teacher at both churches. She was active with the Manalapan Township Senior Citizen Center and the Freehold Township Senior Center. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, James B. Allerton; a daughter, Kathy Croft of Wheaton, Md.; two grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anna Jane Heumiller; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Allerton; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro.
Robert M. Fletcher
Mr. Fletcher, 56, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died July 13, 2007, in Old Bridge after a long battle with lung cancer. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Cliffwood Beach and Englishtown before moving to Morganville seven years ago. Mr. Fletcher was a computer technician for RAM Computer Inc., Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold, for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife, Donna; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Tiffany and Michael Wilke of New York, Tracy and Joseph Colonna of Manalapan, Kimberly Colon of North Carolina, Elizabeth Colon of Monroe and Megan Fletcher of Morganville; a brother, Edward of North Bergen; two sisters, Susan and Debbie, both of Danville, Va.; and two grandchildren. Interment was private, with Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, in charge of arrangements. Frederick Goldsmith
Mr. Goldsmith, 76, of Freehold, died July 2, 2007, at home. Mr. Goldsmith was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in Edison before moving to Farmingdale in 1992. He was an insulation estimator for G.B.I. Insulation, Edison, and Farmingdale, until his retirement in 1992. Prior to that, Mr. Goldsmith worked at the Ford Assembly Plant, Edison, retiring in 1987. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Lacey Golf Association. He was predeceased by a grandson, Reed Goldsmith, in 2006. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Peake Goldsmith; four sons, Thomas, Randall, Michael and Ronald Goldsmith, all of Farmingdale; a daughter, Cathy Goldsmith of Farmingdale; a brother, William Van Doren of Florida; two sisters, Edith Barber of Edison and Julia Kistler of Metuchen; and 10 grandchildren. Services were held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by private interment. Nicholas Anthony Luchento
Nicholas Luchento, 17, of Freehold Township, died July 3, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born and raised in Freehold, he completed his junior year at Freehold Township High School this past spring. Nick was employed in the family business, Luchento’s Ristorante, Millstone Township. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Jacqueline Luchento Jr.; two sisters, Julia and Victoria, both at home; his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Carol of Freehold Township; his paternal great-grandparents, Natale and Carmella of Freehold; and aunt and uncles, Kristina Luchento, Christopher Dunn and Gary Luchento. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Maplewood Mausoleum, both Freehold Township.
Anne Marie Katerinis Lee
Mrs. Lee, 35, of Jackson, died July 3, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Freehold Township, she had moved to Jackson four years ago. She was a graduate of Freehold Township High School. Mrs. Lee was predeceased by her father, Nicholas Katerinis, who died in 2003. Surviving are her husband, Scott David Lee; two children, Scott Thomas Lee and Nikki Anne Lee, both at home; her mother, Harriet Selzer Katerinis; a brother, Thomas David Katerinis; a sister, Nicole Katerinis; and her paternal grandmother, Christina Katerinis, all of Freehold Township; and her maternal grandmother, Rosalind Selzer of Howell. Services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Gary T. Palamara
Mr. Palamara, 56, of Howell, died July 4, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Ohio before moving to Howell in 1974. Mr. Palamara owned and operated Morningstar Sound, Howell, for the past 30 years. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Bonnie Palamara of Howell; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Zachary Palamara of New York City, and Jason and Lori Palamara of Palatine, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen and Scott Cook of Brick; and a brother, Paul Palamara of West Virginia. William B. Baxter
Mr. Baxter, 83, of Manalapan, died July 5, 2007, at home. Born in Prattsburg, N.Y., he had lived in Edison before moving to Manalapan 33 years ago. After graduating from Seton Hall University, South Orange, Mr. Baxter had worked for Sylvan Contracting, Perth Amboy, until he retired in 1996. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Prince of Peace Council. Mr. Baxter is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Cynthia of Ho-Ho-Kus; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ken Steinitz of Manalapan; a brother, Peter of San Diego; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Pauline Beresford
Mrs. Beresford, 67, of Marlboro, died July 7, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Salford, Manchester, England, she immigrated to the United States in 1967 and resided in Hazlet before moving to Marlboro in 1974. Mrs. Beresford was a teacher’s aide at the Tapp School, Tinton Falls, prior to her retirement. She was a former president of the Cosmopolitan Association in the mid ’70s. Surviving are two sons, Andrew S. Beresford of Upper Deerfield, and David M. Beresford and his wife, Deborah, of Marlboro; two brothers and a sister, Howard and Barry Clarke and Rowen White, all of the United Kingdom; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
