Mary Rose Kovacs Csogi
WILLINGBORO Mary Rose Kovacs Csogi, 92, died Sunday at the Samaritan Hospice, Mount Holly.
Ms. Csogi was born in Roebling and was a Trenton area resident for many years before moving to Willingboro. Family was special to her and she enjoyed the days spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling, bowling, crocheting, knitting, reading and crossword puzzles.
In 1938, she worked at General Motors, which became Eastern Aircraft Company during World War II. Ms. Csogi was one of the first women certified as a welder on the Grumman Avenger torpedo bomber. After the war, she was employed at the Westinghouse Corp. Lamp Division, from where she retired.
Wife of the late James Csogi, daughter of the late Sandor and Mary Kriennaker Kovacs and sister to the late Helen Farkas, Julia Yurcho and Sandor Kovacs, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Clara and James Ayrer of Willingboro, with whom she resided; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Alice Csogi of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, James and Karrie Ayrer, Susan and Keith Ward, Kevin and Christine Ayrer, Patricia and Teddy Egley, Sharon and Edward Suchora, Lisa and Paul Adler, Laura and David Descoteau, James and Barbara Csogi Jr. and Paul and Lindsay Csogi. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, James Ayrer IV, Colleen and Jaclyn Ward, Christopher and Ashley Ayrer, Michael and Ryan Egley, Timothy, Ella, and Amelia Suchora, Amelia and Alyssa Adler, Kaitlyn, Courtney and Kelly Csogi, Jacob and Nicholas Descoteau and Aden Csogi; two great-great-grandchildren, Sean and Caitlin Ayrer; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Angels, Immaculate Conception Church in Trenton.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home in Trenton.
Joyce M. Fink
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP Joyce M. Fink, 64, died Saturday in the St. Francis Medical Center.
Born in Trenton and a lifelong area resident, Ms. Fink loved playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Driber Rossetti, and sister to the late Kenneth Rossetti, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert D. Fink Sr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert D. Jr. and Andrea Fink of Hamilton, and Richard and Leida Fink of Burlington Township; two daughters and a son-in-law, Robin and William Braun of Burlington Township, and Carol Martin of Hamilton; three brothers, John, Frank and Michael Rossetti all of Hamilton; three sisters, Frances Whitehead of Morrisville, Pa., Bonnie Peters of Roebling and Dawn Ciesielski of Maryland; six grandchildren, Robert D. III, Alyssa, Taylor Lynn, Victoria, Madelyn, and Jenna; one great-grandson, Mason; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Hartmann Memorial Home and burial was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

Ruth V. Hindman
FLORENCE Ruth V. Hindman (nee Armacost), formerly of Baltimore, Md., died Saturday.
She was the wife of the late Edwin L. Hindman; mother of Barbara Vogel and her husband Thomas; sister of Lenora Hilbert, and Nina Dalhus; grandmother of Deborah Brown, Suzanne Lazorcak, and Gayle Vogel and great-grandmother of Andrew, Kali, Maris, and Hayden.
A funeral service was held at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley Inc. in Timonium, Md. And interment was in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

Teresa J. Jacobson
BORDENTOWN Teresa J. (Ames) Jacobson, 63, died Friday at home.
Born in Trenton, she was an area resident all of her life. Ms. Jacobson retired from the NJEA as a secretary and was a great lover of cats.
Daughter of the late Clark Ames, she is survived by her mother Nancy Maurizi Ames, her brothers Gene C. Ames, Nelson S. and wife Joanne Ames and John C. and wife Cathy Ames, and her niece, Elizabeth Ames and nephew, Christopher Ames all of Hamilton. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her loving cat Laine.
Funeral services were held at the Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home and entombment followed in St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Hamilton.

Joseph Kowalski
HAMILTON Joseph Kowalski, 80, died Friday at Robert Wood Johnson University at Hamilton.
Mr. Kowalski immigrated to the United States with his wife and son in 1949. He was a Holocaust survivor at age 12, taken from his family for three and a half years. After his liberation he joined the Polish Army. He retired from New Jersey Porcelain in Trenton and was a former member of the Polish Falcons. He was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Church.
Father of the late Christine Ann Kowalski, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Christine Schumm Kowalski; a son and daughter-in-law, Gunther J. and Paula Kowalski of Hamilton; a daughter Helen Muccie of Hamilton; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Thomas Manna of Jobstown; six grandchildren, Carla Harney, Vincent Muccie, Joseph Kowalski, Melissa Oliveri, Daniel and Michael Manna; a great-grandson Vito Oliveri; a sister Marie Nogia of Woodbridge; and several nieces and nephews.
AFuneral Mass was celebrated at St. Hedwig Church, Ewing and interment will be in the church’s cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Meloni Memorial Home in Trenton.
Mercedes Paulette Cummings
BORDENTOWN Mercedes Paulette Cummings (Escudero) died July 12 at home with her family by her side.
Born in Jessup, Pa., she was a longtime resident of Bordentown. She was employed at Innophos in Cranbury as a customer service representative. She retired in 2005 after 15 years of dedicated service. Ms. Cummings graduated from the Traphagan School of Design located in New York City. In 2004 she graduated from Rider University with honors and received her bachelor’s degree in business.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Bordentown. Ms. Cummings served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and was a member of Rosary Altar Society. Her greatest joy was spending time with family.
The daughter of the late Paul and Baldina Escudero, she is survived by her loving husband Tom Cummings; her children and their spouses, Mary and Mark Jordan, John and Lisa Cummings, Anne and Bob Stanley, Tom and Barbara Cummings, Paul and Christine Cummings, David and Shanti Cummings; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Olga Escudero; 19 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Bordentown and interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery located in Jessup, Pa.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bordentown Home for Funerals.
Walter S. Lenox
MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP Walter S. Lenox, 92, of Homestead at Mansfield, died peacefully July 12 at home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Lenox was born in Ridgefield Park and resided in Bergenfield before moving to Homestead at Mansfield 22 years ago. He was an attorney and executive vice president of Toplis & Harding, NYC with 30 years of service before retiring in 1984. Mr. Lenox was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He participated in the invasion of Italy, serving in the campaigns of Naples and Rome.
Mr. Lenox excelled in football and attended Duke University on a football scholarship. He was a 1938 graduate of Duke University and a 1941 graduate of Duke University Law School. Mr. Lenox was admitted to the North Carolina Bar after graduation. He was a Duke sports enthusiast and a member of the Alumni Association. Mr. Lenox was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, serving as president of the board of trustees.
Son of the late George A. and Madeline Feirer Lenox, and husband of the late Evelyn Hurst Lenox, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Dr. Ashok Kapoor of Princeton, Barbara and Robert Charles of Newtown, Pa., Judith and Ronald Ulinsky of Newtown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Catherine McBride, Allison Sweeney and Matthew Charles; sister, Mildred Lowe of Doylestown, Pa.; brother, Richard F. Lenox of Baltimore, Md.; sister-in-law, Barbara Lenox of Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Richard Carmelich of Westwood; and many nieces and nephews.
A service was held at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Columbus.
Arrangements were under the direciton of Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors in Roebling.
Delores M. Pley
FLORENCE Delores M. Pley, 70, died July 11 at Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro.
Ms. Pley was born in Lancaster and was a lifelong Florence Township resident. She was a homemaker and a former active member of the Holy Assumption School Catering Committee. She was an avid reader, loved animals and enjoyed crocheting. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wife of the late Paul J. Pley Sr., she is survived by two daughters, Sharon (the late Charles) Brophy of Carthage, N.Y. and Pamela (Michael) Romano of Florence and two sons, Paul (Tami) Pley Jr. of Florence and Michael (Deborah) Pley of Juliustown. She is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Gyenge of Florence, Kathy Snyder of Burlington and Ginger Smith of Florence; a brother, John Snyder of Chicago, Ill.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the Dennison Funeral Home, Florence and interment was in Holy Assumption Cemetery, Roebling.

Susie V. Ashwood
COLUMBUS Susie V. Ashwood, 78, died July 11 at her residence.
Born in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, she was a resident of Columbus for over 55 years. She retired in 2001 from Northern Burlington County Regional School System after 29 years in food service. Ms. Ashwood enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, cooking and baking.
Wife of the late Ralph A. Ashwood Sr., she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph Jr. and Vicki Ashwood, Edward and Natalie Ashwood and Gary and Christine Ashwood, all of Columbus; two daughters and a son-in-law, Josephine and David Wentz of Hainesport and Jacquelin Ashwood of Columbus; a sister, Stella Myers of Ruffs Dale, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, Edward Ashwood Jr., Eric Ashwood, Ali Ashwood, Anthony Testa, Kelsey Ashwoood, Nathan Ashwood, Rhiannon Ashwood, Robert Broderick, Samantha Warman, Komika Broderick, Amanda Fowler, Melanie Ashwood, Tracey Gesin, and Danielle Brenner; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the Huber-Moore Funeral Home in Bordentown and burial was in the Columbus Cemetery.

Richard Carvalho
BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP Richard Carvalho, 55, died July 10 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, Mr. Carvalho was a lifelong Bordentown area resident. He was a member of Laborers Local No. 172 in Bordentown and later became self-employed establishing RMC General Contracting Company. He coached Bordentown Little League Baseball and volunteered with St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church bingo for many years.
Son of the late Frank and Pauline Carvalho, he is survived by his wife, Patricia, of 35 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lorraine Carvalho of Hamilton Township; a brother, James Carvalho and his daughter Alexa of West Windsor; a sister, Joanne Cibik and her husband Michael of Levittown, Pa.; a grandson Jonathan Carvalho; a mother-in-law, Lois Bulovcsak; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, both here and in Hawaii.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Bordentown and interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown.

Clifford Potts
ROBBINSVILLE Clifford Potts, 85, of Robbinsville, died July 10 at RWJ University Hospital at Hamilton.
Mr. Potts was born in Bordentown and was a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired as a millwright from John A. Roebling & Sons after 33 years of service. Mr. Potts was the former owner of Cliff’s Cab in Bordentown. He was a member of the Roebling American Legion Post No. 39 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 491 of Yardville.
Husband of the late Edna Mae Potts, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnne and John Muia of West Virginia, Carol and George Morringelli of Burlington and Mary and James Wood of Florence; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a dear friend, Helen Richmond; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held from the Peppler Funeral Home in Bordentown and interment was in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville.

Evelyn Maye Gatewood
FREEHOLD Evelyn Maye Gatewood, 93, of Columbus, died June 4 at Medford Care Center, Medford.
Born in Trenton, she lived in Metuchen, Old Bridge and Waretown prior to moving to Columbus. Ms. Gatewood was employed at the records hall of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She was a member of the Barnegat Beach Club, Waretown. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, clamming and fishing. She enjoyed her grandchildren and being a homemaker.
Predeceased by her parents, Walter Ogden and Harriet Lynch Ogden; her husband, George Chandler Gatewood; a son-in-law, Raymond Dill Jr.; and a grandson, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis C. Dill and Shirley M. and Robert A. Hill; eight grandchildren, Judy, Bobby, Eddie, Ray, Billy, Richard, Jerry and Joe. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, Shanah, Raymond IV, Robert, Cassie, Nick, Clarrisa, Scot, Meghan, Lora, Matthew and Hannah; and a great-great-grandchild, Cassidy.
Funeral services were held at Old Tennent Church, Tennent and interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Higgins Memorial Home in Freehold.
