Joseph John Fryzowicz, 65, of Dayton, died after a brief illness on Saturday, July 21, at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick.
Born in New Brunswick, he was raised in Old Bridge, settling in Dayton 35 years ago. He served in the Navy from 1963 to 1967. During 1966, he served in Vietnam with the Navy Seabees (MCB7). After he was discharged, he continued to live his life by the Seabees motto: "Can Do." He retired in December 2002 after 44 years as a maintenance supervisor with the N.J Turnpike Authority. He was also very well known for his carpentry skills and for his love of the New York Jets and Mets.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth (Herrmann) Fryzowicz; his children, Daniel and Greg Goldman of Dayton, Wayne Goldman and his wife, Patricia, of Hamilton and Joanne DiStefano and her husband, Christopher, of East Brunswick; his grandchildren, Greg Jr., Brandy, Carly, Jenine, Renae and Michael; his great-granddaughter, Jayden; his brother, Travis Fryzowicz and his wife, Grace, of Spotswood; his niece, Tracie Smith and her husband, Bill; his nephew, Travis Fryzowicz and his wife, Kelly; and his great nieces and great nephews, Evelyn, Timothy, Hunter and Ryan.
A liturgy was offered on Monday, July 23, at the Spotswood Funeral Home. Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to St. Peter’s Foundation, 254 Easton Ave., New Brunswick, N.J. 08901 or online at www.saintpetersuh.com.
