Evelyn Cubberley

   EWING — Evelyn B. Cubberley, 88, died Monday, July 23, at Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township.
   Born in Trenton, Mrs. Cubberley lived most of her life in Ewing Township.
   She was a member of the Morning Star and former grand matron and a former member of the Rainbow Girls Assembly 9 in Trenton.
   She was the daughter of the late Merrel and Anna Enslin Beyer, widow of J. Earl Cubberley and sister of the late Loretta Sigman and Anna Marie Beyer.
   Surviving are one daughter, Evelyn Fry of Lambertville; one son, Joseph Cubberley of Picture Rocks, Pa.; three brothers, Herman, Merrell and Bill Beyer; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
   Graveside services were held Friday at the Moreland Lutheran Community Church Cemetery in Muncy, Pa., under the direction of the Garefino Funeral Home in Lambertville.

Charles DiStefano

   HAMILTON — Charles N. DiStefano, 89 died Sunday, July 22, at St. Francis Medical Center.
   Born in Lambertville, Mr. DiStefano was a longtime Hamilton resident.
   He retired after 42 years with Hiennemann Electric in Trenton as a press operator.
   Mr. DiStefano was a World War II Army veteran. He was a corporal in the 3340th Quartermaster Tank Company and an eight-star battle veteran of the Tunisia to the Alps fight. He was in the first wave of troops to invade the Anzio-Nettuno area and set up the first big gun batteries and supply dumps on the beachhead.
   He was the son of the late Guiseppe and Paolina DiStefano and brother of the late Joseph Jr., David and Anthony DiStefano.
   Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Angelina Stia DiStefano; a daughter, Paula Agabiti DiStefano; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles Jr. and his wife, Joy DiStefano, and Joseph and Debbie DiStefano; a son-in-law, Richard Agabiti; eight grandchildren, Maria Agabiti-Battista and her husband, Sammy Battista, Anthony Agabiti, Angela Agabiti, Jenna, Robert and James DiStefano and Joseph and Michael DiStefano; two sisters, Marion Salyga and Vivian Nodier; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Frank and Jenny Stia, Sam and Dee Stia, and Theresa Stia; and many nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was held Friday from the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, Hamilton. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the church St. Raphael’s Church, Hamilton. Entombment was in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hamilton.

Gret Barkin

   HOLLAND, Pa. — Gret VerBeck Barkin, 99, of Holland died Monday, July 23, at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown.
   Born in New York, Mrs. Barkin was a resident of Holland for the past 12 years, having formerly lived in Pineville.
   She was an artist who designed and made copper jewelry, which was displayed in New Hope.
   She was the daughter of the late Jacque and Barbara Raab VerBeck and widow of Rube Barkin,
   Surviving is her son, James F. Martin of New Hope.
   Services and burial were private.

Judith Stanton

   MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Judith F. "Jude" Stanton, 73, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., formerly of Lambertville, died Thursday, July 26.
   Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Dolores Emise Ferris Jr. and widow of John M. "Jack" Stanton.
   Surviving are two daughters, Anne S. Crawford of Collegeville, Pa., and Kathleen S. Wetzel of Carlisle, Pa.; three sons, Marty Stanton of Boulder, Colo., James T. Stanton of Irving, Texas, and Peter D. Stanton of New Hope; a brother, Jerry Ferris of Florida; a sister, Bevinn King of Brielle; and five grandchildren.
   A mass was held Tuesday at St. Katharine Drexel Church, Mechanicsburg.
   Arrangements were under the direction of the Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.

Rev. Paul Carey

   DARBY, Pa. — The Rev. Paul J. Carey, retired pastor of St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Solebury, died Sunday, July 29, at the St. Francis Country House in Darby, Pa. He was 91.
   Born in Philadelphia, Father Carey was ordained by Cardinal Dennis Dougherty at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral on May 30 1942.
   He served as assistant pastor or in residence at several parishes, including Holy Name in Philadelphia, St. Catherine of Siena in Allentown, St. Charles in Cornwall Heights, St. Michael’s in Chester, St. Benedict’s in Philadelphia and Most Blessed Sacrament in West Philadelphia.
   In 1947, he joined the faculty of St. James High School in Chester where he taught German, Spanish and English until 1956. From 1956 to 1971, he taught at Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia.
   In 1971, Father Carey was appointed the pastor of St. Martin of Tours Church where he served until his retirement in 1991.
   After retiring to his home in Rydal, he continued to be active as a weekend assistant at St. Hilary of Poitiers in Rydal.
   Father Carey was a graduate of St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia and also attended Little Rock Seminary in Arkansas.
   He was the son of the late John J. and Margaret Flynn Carey and brother of the late Catherine R., William, John, Joseph, Edward, James, Michael and Francis Carey.
   He is survived by his niece and her husband, Tonee and Reid Beck, and their children, Verity and Justin, all of Rydal, and several other nieces and nephews.
   Clergy, family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at the Chapel of St. Francis Country House, 1412 Lansdowne Avenue, Darby on Friday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m.
   His Eminence Justin Cardinal Rigali, archbishop of Philadelphia, will be the main celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Philadelphia.
   Visitation at the chapel will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday morning.
