Geza Joseph Konrad, 88, of Monroe, died Wednesday, July 25, at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in New Brunswick, he was a longtime resident of Monroe. He attended Rutgers University before he entered the Army during World War II. He was a Pepperidge Farms franchise owner for many years. After his retirement in 1981, he continued to work with his son, Ed, until 2006.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury since 1949. He formerly volunteered at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) and attended the Men’s Breakfast Group at church. He was been a member of the Lions Club since 1950 and was its president from 1963-1964.
He was an avid boater, a member of the Lighthouse Yacht Club in Toms River, and was an avid Rutgers and Yankees fan.
His wife, Maryminta White Konrad, is deceased. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Walter Stephen Konrad of Gautier, Miss., and Edward Paul and Deborah Scott Konrad of Pennington; a sister-in-law, Henrietta White Sushereba of Monroe; his grandchildren, Benjamin Scott Konrad of Pennington and Austin Dean Konrad of Jefferson City, Mo.; a niece and her husband, Heidi and Cabot Knowlton of Plainsboro; two great-nieces and a great-nephew, Anne Thode, Betsy Thode and Edward Those, all of Westfield; and his many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury.
