Dennis Akroyd Jr.
   Dennis Akroyd Jr., 75, of Lawrenceville, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Southern Ocean County Hospital after a lengthy illness.
   Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident of Lawrence Township as well as his summers in Waretown.
   He was a graduate of Trenton Central High School.
   Mr. Akroyd served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War.
   He retired after 36 years from Bell Telephone as the chief of toll.
   He spent most of his summers at the Shore where he was an avid fisherman and loved being on a boat. He was the former co-owner of Akroyd’s Anchorage Marina along with his brother Colly in Waretown.
   He was a member of North Trenton American Legion Post 458 and a former member of the Lawrence Township Lions Club and once served on the board of directors of the White Horse Savings and Loan.
   Son of the late Dennis and Gladys Bailey Akroyd and brother of the late Carlton J. (Colly) Akroyd, he is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Ruth Spooner Akroyd, a son and daughter-in-law the Rev. Dr. Robert Akroyd and his wife, Heather; and a daughter Nancy Akroyd. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law Jane Akroyd and Jean Johnson, two nieces Susan Akroyd and Cindi Tunnicliffe and a nephew Dan Johnson, several cousins and two very special cats Simba and Sassy.
   The funeral was held Tuesday from Poulson & Van Hise, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, with his son officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Elizabeth Paulick
   Elizabeth (Betty) Paulick, 79, died Saturday at her home in Lawrenceville.
   Born in New York, N.Y. she had resided in Scranton, Pa., before moving to Lawrenceville over 55 years ago.
   Mrs. Paulick retired after 25 years of service with the Lawrence Township Public School System, working at both the Slackwood School and the Lawrence High School’s cafeterias.
   She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, reading and relaxing on the front porch of her home in Lawrenceville.
   Daughter of the late Alexander and Minerva Pearsall Hawkesworth and wife of the late Paul Paulick, she is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: David and Nancy of Allentown, Ronald and Mary Lou of Great Falls, Mont., and Robert and Terri of Irvine, Calif., her daughter Elaine Paxton of Brick, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers Howard and Robert Hawkesworth and one sister Gee Morrison.
   Funeral services will be private.
