Helen Catana

   TRENTON — Helen A. Barber Catana, 95, died July 30 at the Water’s Edge Rehabilitation Center.
   Born in Trenton, Ms. Catana was a lifelong Trenton and Deutzville resident. She was a member and the president, for over 10 years, with the Deutzville Senior Citizens.
   Daughter of the late David R. Sr. and Helen A. Provost Barber, wife of the late Louis W. Catana Sr., mother of the late Helen A. Miller, and sister of the late David R. Barber Jr., she is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Louis W. Jr. and Kathleen M. Catana of Cream Ridge, Gerald J. and Lorraine Catana of Flemington, and Richard D. and Patricia Catana of Robbinsville; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was held from the Winowicz Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy was celebrated in the Divine Mercy parish, Church of the Holy Cross.
   Burial was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton Township.

Janet Lannon

   PLUMSTED — Janet Lannon, 73, died July 30, with her family at her side, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
   Born Janet May Seidel to Charles and Bessie Mae Seidel, she was the oldest of six children. Upon graduating from high school, Ms. Lannon worked as a secretary for Prudential Insurance. She attended Syracuse University where she studied accounting. She also attended Rider University and took courses with the Internal Revenue Service, achieving the status of enrolled agent, licensed to practice before the IRS.
   She was in the practice of tax preparation for 41 years, and owned her own business for the last 20 of those years. Ms. Lannon also achieved a degree in practical nursing from Syracuse University. She worked part-time in the fields of taxation and nursing while raising her children.
   Her hobbies included music, gardening, cooking, traveling and helping others. Her family, friends and clients adored her. The most important goal in her life was to serve the Lord and spread his love to others.
   She is survived by her brother Henry and sister-in-law Marrilee of Syracuse, N.Y.; six children, Dr. Lori Lindstrom of Shawnee, Kan., George Greenwell of Buffalo, N.Y., Christopher Peck and wife Gail from Trumansburg, N.Y., Janet and husband Jim from Apex, N.C., John Peck and wife Susann of Glen Ridge, and Jennifer Nolte and husband Thomas of Lawrenceville; and 13 grandchildren, Timothy and Andrew Lindstrom, Gretchen, Leslie, Ethan, and Josiah Peck, Jeffrey and Kate Hobble, Camille and Rachel Peck, and Nolte triplets on the way.
   A service of celebration was held at the Allentown Presbyterian Church.
   Arrangements were under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.

Mary T. Hatala

   MANSFIELD — Mary T. Hatala, 90, died July 29 at Genesis Elder Care Center, Mercerville.
   Born in Perth Amboy, she was a lifelong resident of Mansfield Township.
   She was a longtime member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Mansfield Township Senior Citizens Group and the National Slovak Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her senior groups. Ms. Hatala was an outstanding cook and had a passion for preparing ethnic meals.
   Wife of the late Michael Hatala Jr., she is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Susann Hatala of Columbus and Maryann and Harry Warner of Roebling, and one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joyce Hatala of Cream Ridge. She was the devoted grandmother to Sarah Warner, Corinne (Bob) Cain, and Shawn (Natalya) Warner, and one great-grandson, Cody Wilson.
   A funeral service was held at the Wesley United Methodist Church and interment was in the Columbus Cemetery.
   Arrangements were under the direction of the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, Bordentown.

Louis Bialota Jr.

   HAMILTON — Louis Peter Bialota Jr., 78, passed away Wednesday at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton. Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.
   A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Bialota was a baker for many years in the Trenton area. He retired after 10 years as manager of Eagle Bakery in Trenton and was formerly employed by Bob’s Cake Box in Trenton. He was a member of American Legion Post 31 and a former manager in the Lou Gehrig Babe Ruth Baseball league. Mr. Bialota was an avid Yankees fan.
   Son of the late Louis P. and Margaret Nacel Bialota Sr., and brother of the late John and Robert Bialota, he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean C. Stevens Bialota of Hamilton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Louis P. and Sherri Bialota III of Middletown, DE, and Brian P. Bialota of Hamilton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce and Thomas Cunningham of Rumson, and Cathy Lubas Gernhart; a sister, Loretta Sytnik of New Egypt; and seven grandchildren, Meghan and Kevin Cunningham, Crystal, William, and Travis Bialota, Rebecca and Jeffrey Lubas.
   He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral service were held Monday at the Buklad Memorial Home, 2141 S. Broad St. in Hamilton. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memorial Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Elizabeth Paulick

   LAWRENCEVILLE — Elizabeth (Betty) Paulick, 79, died Aug. 4 at her home in Lawrenceville.
   Born in New York, NY, she had resided in Scranton, Pa., before moving to Lawrenceville over 55 years ago. Ms. Paulick retired after 25 years of service with the Lawrence Township Public School System, working at both the Slackwood School and the Lawrence High School’s cafeterias. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, reading and relaxing on the front porch of her home.
   Daughter of the late Alexander and Minerva Pearsall Hawkesworth and wife of the late Paul Paulick, she is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Nancy of Allentown, Ronald and Mary Lou of Great Falls, MT and Robert and Terri of Irvine, CA; her daughter Elaine Paxton of Brick; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
   Also surviving are two brothers, Howard and Robert Hawkesworth and one sister, Gee Morrison. Funeral services were private.

Margaret Glew

   NEW EGYPT — Margaret "Peggie" Carey Glew died Aug. 3 at her home.
   Born in Rochester, NY, she was a Yardville resident most of her life. Ms. Glew retired after 20 years of service with Dunham’s Department Store in Trenton. She thrived on her grandchildren. She was also an avid cook and loved reading and golf.
   Daughter of the late Harold and Mildred Hewitt Carey, wife of the late Arthur E. Glew, she is survived by a daughter Heather Hotchkin and her fiance John Koppenaal of New Egypt; two grandchildren, Christopher and Cortney Hotchkin of New Egypt.
   Calling hours will be held 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville Allentown Road in Yardville. Entombment and services will follow at Ewing Cemetery in Ewing.
William Kennedy

   WHITING — William E. Kennedy, 88, formerly of Hamilton, died Aug. 1 at Manchester Manor in Whiting.
   Born in Trenton, he was a Hamilton resident for 47 years before moving to Whiting. Mr. Kennedy retired from Hub City Distributors in Trenton as a warehouse supervisor after 37 years of service. He was a former member and usher of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Hamilton, a member of the Hamilton Township Colonial Senior Club, H.E.L.P. Senior Club and the Knights of Columbus.
   He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mildred A. Downs Kennedy; two daughters Donna Kennedy-Durastanti and her husband, Armand, of Robbinsville and Barbara Crescenzo and her husband Ronald of Bluffton, SC; a granddaughter Nancy Crescenzo; his sister Dorothy Milligan, formerly of Salt Lake City, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was held Monday at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Trenton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 626 S. Olden Ave., Trenton, NJ 08610.
George Stegner Jr.

   ALLENTOWN – George F. Stegner Jr., 77, died Sunday at his home.
   Born in Hazel-ton, PA, he resided in Hamilton for several years before moving to Allentown 32 years ago. A U.S. Army veteran, George retired as foreman from U.S. Steel. He currently worked as a ranger at Charleston Springs Golf Course and was a member of the Hamilton Elks.
   He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose Stegner; two sons, Ronald and Glen Stegner; a daughter, Doreen Bondonese; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Ann Stegner; and four grandchildren.
   Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. The Rev. Horace Frantz will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 South Main Street, Allentown.
