Samuel Van Nest

   HILLSBOROUGH — Samuel G. Van Nest died Aug. 6 in Merwick Rehab Hospital & Nursing Care in Princeton. He was 68.
   He lived in Somerville for many years before moving to Hillsborough in 1976.
   Mr. Van Nest worked at Thompson Electric for many years while living in Somerville. He served on the Somerville Town Council and was appointed as Somerville Police & Fire Commissioner.
   He was co-owner of Amwell Ace Hardware in Hillsborough for 23 years.
   He served on the Hillsborough Board of Adjustment, served as Chairman of the Hillsborough Planning Board and was appointed to the Hillsborough Board of Health.
   He was a member of the Rotary Club of Belle Mead.
   He served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force serving two of the four years in Japan.
   Surviving are his wife, Beth (Zugermayer) Van Nest; two sons, Peter of Manville and Donald of Hillsborough; and one grandchild.
   Graveside service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
   Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 10 at Hillsborough Funeral Home in Hillsborough.
