   August through September — To celebrate Bordentown’s 325th Anniversary, the committee will be taking photos of residents in front of their homes. The photos will be placed in a scrapbook in the Bordentown Library on Union Street.

Firehouse fundraiser
   August through Saturday, Sept. 1 — The Florence Township Fire Department located on Firehouse Lane is currently conducting a fundraiser. The department is selling unique candles that have no flame and operate for 350 hours on batteries. The candles look and feel traditional.

Civil War stories
   Thursday, Aug. 16 — The Bordentown Historical Society will present Hamilton Township Civil War buff and re-enactor Bill Ford at 7:30 p.m. at the Friends Meeting House. Mr. Ford will share his research on the Bordentonians who served and gave their lives during the war.

Antiques and desserts
   Friday, Aug. 17 — The Downtown Bordentown Association will sponsor a night of antiques and desserts from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bordentown Antiques. Tickets cost $10 in advance and at the door. Discuss one collectible item per ticket with Art Kravetz of Art Kravetz Auctions.

Golf outing
   Saturday, Aug. 25 — The Florence Township Emergency Services will host the annual golf outing at the Springfield Golf Center on Jacksonville-Mt. Holly Road. Registration runs from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The shotgun start will take place at 1 p.m. and a buffet dinner will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Fireman’s Hall, Seventh and Main streets, Roebling.
   The cost is $80 per golfer, which includes a round of golf with a cart, food and beverages at the turn, the buffet dinner and door prizes.

and landscapes exhibit
   Tuesday, Aug. 28 — The Triumph Brewing Company, located at 138 Nassau Street in Princeton, presents paintings by Jane Lawrence. Opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibit features paintings of color, loved ones and landscapes, and will run till Saturday, Oct. 27.

Health screenings
   Wednesday, Aug. 29 — Life Line Screening Radiology, LLC, will be at the Florence Township Fire Department, 401 Firehouse Lane, Florence, to perform four screenings that can help save lives: stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis. The screenings are non-invasive, completely painless and use Doppler ultrasound technology. Pre-registration is required.

Labor Day festival
   Monday, Sept. 3 — The annual Labor Day festival, to take place at the Fountain of Life Center at 2035 Columbus Road, Florence Township, will start at 8 a.m. rain or shine. The event will include flea market goods, international foods, kids’ entertainment and a bass fishing tournament.

Day camp
   Tuesday, Sept. 4, to Friday, Sept. 7 — The Fernbrook Farms Education Center’s summer day camp program is being extended for Bordentown residents. From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. children ages 6 to 11 can choose activities they want to participate in such as exploring ponds, collecting vegetables, and making musical instruments.

Casino trip
   Sunday, Sept. 9 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 are sponsoring a trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. The bus will depart from the St. Mary’s Church parking lot on Elizabeth Street in Bordentown at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay at the casino. The cost is $20, and each attendee will receive $20 in cash.

Open house

   Sunday, Sept. 16 — The Downtown Bordentown Association presents the Eastern Wind Symphony, conducted by William Silvester, in concert at 3 p.m. at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center at Bordentown Regional High School, 318 Ward Avenue, Bordentown.

Charter tuna

fishing trip
   Thursday, Sept. 20, to Friday, Sept. 21 — A 30-hour fishing trip is planned for members of the Cookstown and Bordentown areas. The trip will take place from 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. Be at the dock one hour prior to departure.
   The 85-foot-long boat sails from Fishermen’s Supply Co., 69 Channel Drive, Point Pleasant Beach. The trip costs $395 per person. The price includes rods, reels, all terminal tackle, bait and gratuity. All fish will also be cleaned and bagged. The fish will be divided evenly so that everyone goes home with some fish.

Fashion show
   Saturday, Sept. 22 — The Black Experience Committee is preparing a fashion show in conjunction with Bordentown 325th Anniversary Committee at 6:30 p.m. in the Bordentown Performing Arts Center at Bordentown Regional High School located at 318 Ward Ave, Bordentown.
   It will feature local residents modeling fashions form the 1700s to the present day. There will be a collection of clothing wear from the following eras: 1700’s to1800’s, 1920’s to1930’s, 1940’s to 1950’s, 1960’s to1970’s, 1980’s to 1990 and finally to Y2K. In between eras we will have a short interlude of music, skits or readings pretending to that particular time period. Admission price will be $4 for adults and $2 for children under 17yrs. Fall Festival
   Saturday, Sept. 22 — Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Bordentown will hold its third annual Fall Festival from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a craft fair and flea market at the festival beginning at 8 a.m. Other activities will begin at 10 a.m., and will include a hayride, pony rides, petting zoo, air jumper, dunk tank, music, carnival games and a bake sale.

tea party
   Sunday, Sept. 23 — The Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 Ladies Auxiliary will host a colonial tea party at 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. Stacey Roth will entertain with tales of the 18th-century woman and her tea party while a dulcimer player serenades. Tickets cost $12.

Finale Spirit Walk
   Friday, Sept. 28 — The last Spirit Walk will be held from 5 p.m. to midnight. Come downtown to enjoy a beer garden, meet the Anheuser Bush Clydesdales, the Philly Phanatic and to hear Billy Briggs play his tunes.
   Ticket holders get to take advantage of discounts and deals for the restaurants and retailers downtown. Tickets cost $20, and all ticket holders get a free t-shirt. Tickets can be purchased at Hob Tavern or Silk and Tweed.

Festival
   Saturday, Sept. 29 — The 19th annual Crosswicks Village Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street in Crosswicks. The festival will include craft vendors, an antique car display, children’s games, book and bake sales, a Lego building contest, a chili tasting contest, a vintage 1873 baseball game, a Civil War encampment and old country dancing.
   There will also be house tours for $10 and a spaghetti dinner at the firehouse from 3 to 7 p.m. for $8.

The group aims to help parents cope with stress and learn alternative methods of discipline. It is led by volunteer professionals and parent leaders from the community.

   Wednesdays — Thousand-dollar bingo is held every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s School, 30 Elizabeth St., Bordentown City. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

   Fridays — Nicotine Anonymous meetings are held Fridays at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton in the second floor library from 7 to 8 p.m. The hospital is located on Hamilton Square Road in Hamilton.
   The meeting is open to anyone who has the desire to stop using nicotine. You need not have quit to attend. There are no dues or fees.

loan program
   The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection currently has a Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Remediation, Upgrade & Closure Fund (UST Fund) grant and loan program available to both homeowners and commercial property owners for funding remediation of contamination caused by leaking underground storage tanks.
   Recent legislative changes have added a non-leaking tank component to the UST Fund, which awards grants for the proactive removal and replacement of homeowner heating oil tanks. Training group
   Interested in participating in group runs throughout beautiful northern Burlington County? A training group is now forming for various fall races. Whether you’re a beginner, building a base for any of the numerous fall marathons, preparing for a race of shorter distance, or just want some company in your quest for fitness, join the group on Saturday and Sunday mornings as they explore the roads of Mansfield, Springfield, Chesterfield and any other fields they can find. Distances will vary, and all paces will be accommodated.

Volunteers needed
   The Mansfield Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers for a domestic violence response team. The team members will work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information and referral at the time of a domestic violence crisis.
   Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to serve a minimum of four 12-hour shifts per month, and submit to background investigations, including fingerprinting. A 40-hour mandatory intensive training course, to be held over an eight-week period during evening and weekend hours is required and will be provided to successful applicants. An understanding of domestic violence issues is a plus, as is a bilingual capacity.
