Harriet Halbert (Merrill) Kimple, 88, died Friday, July 20, after a brief illness
Her husband, Jim, her son, John, and granddaughter, Alison, were with her when she died.
She was the daughter of Whitney and Gertrude Merrill of Brooklyn, N.Y. Ms. Kimple graduated from Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa, where she met James "Jim" Kimple. They married on Aug. 1, 1941. The couple lived in South Brunswick from 1962 to 2005 when they moved to Dent, Minn., their longtime summer residence.
Ms. Kimple was a noted silversmith and jewelry maker. Her interests included her family, the Girl Scouts, women’s issues and the arts.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; four children, James Jr., John, Eric and Joan; four grandchildren, Aaron, Kate, Alison and Justin; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Thane, Grace and Hannah; and many nieces and nephews.
