Gallery 14, a photographers’ cooperative based at 14 Mercer St., in Hopewell Borough, has been focusing on the borough and Hopewell Township in an exhibit set to run through Sunday (Aug. 19).
"The members of Gallery 14 have taken their vision and skills throughout Hopewell Borough and Hopewell Township to show the beauty and mystery of this area," said David Miller, president of Gallery 14.
Photographs at the exhibit, entitled "Hopewell," were taken by Gallery 14 members Martha Weintraub, Tasha O’Neill, Rhoda Kassof-Isaac, Frank Magalhães and Mr. Miller himself.
"This is an exhibit we decided to do because we’ve been in Hopewell a long time," Mr. Miler said Monday. "We love the town and surrounding area and wanted to try to capture them with photos."
Ms. Weintraub used some of Hopewell Borough’s Victorian houses as a starting point for "fantasy landscape" works that include two to five other photographs inside one frame.
Also from the borough, Ms. O’Neill has photos of Jim Laga’s auto detailing business Mr. Laga customizes old cars in addition to his detailing work and a Hopewell fire engine on its way back to base from an alarm.
Mr. Kassof-Issac’s work includes painted-on photographs. Tree portraits by Mr. Magalhaes are being shown. Mr. Miller is showing infrared photography.
Gallery 14 will be closed for from Aug. 25-Sept. 6. When it reopens, there will be a show of work by Ms. Wientraub and Jay Goodkind, who does black and white photography that hearkens to the work of Ansel Adams.
