Second potluck picnic slated Sunday in Hopewell

Attendees will celebrate "all the wonderful local food that is produced in our surrounding area"

On Aug. 19, there will be a potluck picnic to celebrate local food, agriculture and community at the Hopewell Park, South Greenwood and Columbia avenues, Hopewell, from 5-7pm.
This will be the second of three picnics to be held this season. As with the first picnic, attendees will celebrate "all the wonderful local food that is produced in our surrounding area," said a spokesman. "The idea is bring a potluck dish to share made with as much locally produced food as possible."
What is local? Know an artisan bread baker, cheese maker, meat producer, fruit grower, vegetable or wheat farmer, honey harvester within 50 miles of Hopewell? If so, that’s local.
The first potluck picnic featured local food and those who came were entertained by a surprise visit by the band, "Mountain View."
"It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening; great food, great company and great music!" the spokesman said.
On Sunday, bring plates, utensils, beverages and a blanket.
The final picnic of the season will be held on Sept. 15.
