Former Girls Scouts officer to oversee daily operations
Katherine “Katy” Bech has been named the new operations director at the Princeton Family YMCA.
”We are very excited to bring Katy to our organization,” said Kate Story, YMCA CEO. “She brings significant skills, experience and passion to the position and will play a leading role in ensuring that our programs meet the evolving needs of the Princeton community.”
Ms. Bech’s primary responsibility will be overseeing daily operations. She will also serve as an ambassador for the mission and vision of the organization, according to the YMCA, helping to develop new programs and services that will address community members’ needs and interests.
She has more that 17 years of nonprofit management experience.
Ms. Bech worked for five years as the director of development and public relations for the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County, near Philadelphia. Most recently, she was chief advancement officer for the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania where she led the $5 million youth organization’s fundraising efforts, communications and marketing.
”I’m thrilled to be back with a community-based organization,” stated Ms. Bech. “Throughout my career, I’ve always been drawn to places where the goal is to help shape a brighter future for the collective good. The Y is ideal because there are few places where people from all walks of life can be together and share common goals. Whether it’s providing top-notch childcare for families, helping individuals to get healthier, or motivating young people to get off the couch and get moving, the Y offers wonderful opportunities. My goal is to shape our program to deliver what the community values and needs, to help the YMCA be successful in its second century of service to Princeton.”
Ms. Bech is a resident of Pennington with her husband Nicholas Z. Hegedus, a local business and real estate attorney, and her step-children, Tim and Kristen Hegedus.
