‘In the Pink’ to celebrate women’s courage

Fashion show and auction Sept. 28 to benefit Breast Cancer Resource Center

The third annual "In the Pink" Fashion Show and Silent Auction will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m., at The Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village, to benefit the Breast Cancer Resource Center of the YWCA Princeton.
This inspirational event celebrates the strength, beauty and spirit of breast cancer survivors and the courage and compassion of their support network. Breast cancer survivors, along with their husbands, children, sisters, friends and physicians, will model fall fashions from local shops, including Chico’s, Eastern Mountain Sports, Incredible Me, J. McLaughlin, LympheDIVAs, Talbots, and The Dandeline Shop.
Hosted by the Breast Cancer Resource Center of the YWCA Princeton, and supported by the University Medical Center at Princeton Breast Health Center and Capital Health System, the evening promises to be a moving reminder of the unified team that supports each woman as she battles this disease. An official pink ribbon-cutting ceremony will launch October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Guests also will enjoy a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions with choice items including jewelry, rounds of golf, spa packages, stays at holiday homes, bed & breakfasts and hotels, dinner certificates, dance lessons, gourmet gift baskets, and more.
An estimated 240,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, and approximately 2.3 million women alive today in the United States have had the disease.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from "In the Pink" will benefit the YWCA Princeton’s Breast Cancer Resource Center, which is dedicated to providing information and support to women and families affected by breast cancer, and to increasing awareness of the disease in the community.
Funds raised will support BCRC’s free programs and services which include support groups, "lunch & learn sessions," wellness activities, a wig and prosthesis bank, a peer-support network, a resource library, and more.
Tickets are $75 per person or $750 for a table of 10. Those who support "In the Pink" as a Friend ($200), Patron ($300) or Benefactor ($500) receive two tickets and acknowledgement in the evening’s program book.
