Selma Fyier Blumberg, 78, died Monday, Aug. 20, at Park Place Center, South Brunswick.
Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Kendall Park 50 years ago.
Prior to retiring in 1995, she was a cashier at Mini-Check in Kendall Park for 15 years. Prior to that, she was a South Brunswick crossing guard for several years.
Her husband, Melvin Blumberg, died in 2000 and her brother, Charlie Fyier, and sister, Helen Hirstreet, also died previously.
Surviving are her son, Miles Blumberg and his wife Joanne, of Mohrsville, Pa.; four daughters, Bridget Becker and her husband Jim, of Hamilton; Moreen Galarza of Dayton; Jennifer Ehlers and her husband Rusty, of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; and Linda Ehlers and her husband Jerry, of Kendall Park; and eight grandchildren, Melanie Becker, Kyle and Travis Galarza, Matthew and Miranda Blumberg, and Daniel, Tara and Jerry Ehlers.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, Cranbury Road at Evergreen Boulevard, East Brunswick. Interment followed at Washington Cemetery, South Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset, N.J. 08873 or the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, N.J. 08902-4301.
