Lambertville

   John McEwen, 45, of Asbury Park was charged with drunken driving Sunday.
   Police stopped Mr. McEwen on Bridge Street at 2:30 a.m. after he was seen driving without his headlights on, police said.
   He also was charged with careless driving and failure to activate headlights when required.
   He was released to an acquaintance.
   Lawrence Scheier, 44, of Yardville was brought to Hunterdon County on a warrant for failure to appear on drunken driving charges.
   Mr. Scheier was arrested in Somerset on Friday.
   He was taken to the Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of $1,000.00 bail.
   There was a two-vehicle accident that sent one person to the hospital on Saturday.
   The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 179 and Washington Street at 3:50 p.m.
   Sharon MacLean, 37, of Stockton was trying to pull on Route 179 from Washington Street when her vehicle was struck by Evlaia Moveno, 22, of Lambertville, who was going north on Route 179 in the slow lane.
   Ms. MacLean was taken to Hunterdon Medical Center for evaluation.
   Mr. Moveno complained of pain but refused medical attention. Both vehicles were towed.
   Ms. MacLean was charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic. Mr. Moveno was charged with being an unlicensed driver.
   The Lambertville Police Department will have a DUI checkpoint Saturday, Sept. 1, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
   The checkpoint will be conducted on Route 179 (Bridge Street) and Union Street in accordance with the national "Over the Limit Under Arrest" 2007 Impaired Driving Crackdown.
West Amwell

   Aug. 14 at 2:30 p.m., Paul Brown of Rock Road East reported damage to a newly installed front door on his residence.
   It was purposely damaged in several areas, police said. There were no signs of entry.
   Aug. 16 at 7 p.m., Dawn Shematt-Bado of Alexauken Creek Road reported an attempted burglary to her vehicle.
   The driver’s side window of her vehicle that was parked in the driveway was smashed. An inventory of the vehicle showed nothing was stolen.

   Aug. 18 at 1:58 p.m., there was an accident at the Quick Chek Store on Route 31.
   An employee of Quick Chek working in the fuel pump area said a white Ford Thunderbird was backing up and struck the curbing and gas pump island, and continued in reverse, striking a protective post. The driver then left, police said.
   Police located and questioned the driver, Mark Johnson of Hopewell, and the store employee, Harris Feinstein of Hamilton, signed a citizen’s complaint of careless driving against Mr. Johnson.
   Aug. 20 at 1:06 a.m. Robert Housel, 41, of Lake Drive was charged with assault after he was reportedly shoved Office Robert Boan while being questioned.
   He was released without bail.
