Citywide resident
photo
   August through September — To celebrate Bordentown’s 325th Anniversary, the committee will be taking photos of residents in front of their homes. The photos will be placed in a scrapbook in the Bordentown Library on Union Street.
   A questionnaire will be sent to all residents and businesses are welcome to participate.

Firehouse fundraiser
   August through Saturday, Sept. 1 — The Florence Township Fire Department located on Firehouse Lane is currently conducting a fundraiser. The department is selling unique candles that have no flame and operate for 350 hours on batteries. The candles look and feel traditional.

Summer concert
   Friday, Aug. 31 — Florence Township will close their summer concert season with 1980s rock legend Tommy Conwell at 7 p.m. at Veteran’s Park on Broad Street in Florence.
Preschool program
   September — The Holy Cross Lutheran Preschool in Bordentown is offering an additional class for 3-year-olds. The class is held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children must be 3 years old by Oct. 1 and fully potty-trained.

Breakfast
   Sunday, Sept. 2 — The Roebling Holy Assumption Altar Rosary Society will hold the Fall Kick-off Breakfast after the 8:30 a.m. The breakfast will be held at McGrath Hall and will be prepared by the men of Holy Name. Women of the Holy Assumption Parish and St. Claire’s parish are invited.

Labor Day festival
   Monday, Sept. 3 — The annual Labor Day festival, to take place at the Fountain of Life Center at 2035 Columbus Road, Florence Township, will start at 8 a.m. rain or shine. The event will include flea market goods, international foods, kids’ entertainment and a bass fishing tournament.
   The center is also seeking vendors to participate in the festival.

Day camp
   Tuesday, Sept. 4, to Friday, Sept. 7 — The Fernbrook Farms Education Center’s summer day camp program is being extended for Bordentown residents. From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. children ages 6 to 11 can choose activities they want to participate in such as exploring ponds, collecting vegetables, and making musical instruments.

Public meeting
   Wednesday, Sept. 5 — There will be a public hearing on proposed new zoning ordinances and conservation element for Bordentown City at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

   Friday, Sept. 7 — Due to popular demand, Silk and Tweed will sponsor another night of tarot readings by Susan Van Dongen at 7 p.m.

Shrimp night
   Friday, Sept. 7 — The Willits-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 in Roebling will hold their monthly shrimp dinner at 5 p.m. until sold out. The cost of a platter is $10 and will consist of 15 large shrimp, homemade potato salad, homemade coleslaw and dessert, with coffee or tea. Meatball sandwiches with the same side dishes will also be available for $7.

Basketball car wash
   Saturday, Sept. 8 — The Bordentown boy’s basketball team will hold a car wash from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bordentown Elk’s Club at Route 206 and Amboy Road. The team appreciates you support and donations.

New church schedule
   Beginning Sunday, Sept. 9 — Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, will start the new schedule for fall. Sunday worship services will begin at 10 a.m. with children and adults meeting in the sanctuary. Children will be dismissed with their teachers for Sunday School, go the nursery, or remain in worship with their parents.
   The Adult Sunday School class and Pastor Tom’s confirmation class for all youth wishing to join the church will continue to meet at 9 a.m. The Youth Group will meet Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Also, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 12, a Bible Study will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday mornings. The church invites all members of the community to attend the services.

Casino trip
   Sunday, Sept. 9 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 are sponsoring a trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. The bus will depart from the St. Mary’s Church parking lot on Elizabeth Street in Bordentown at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay at the casino. The cost is $20, and each attendee will receive $20 in cash.

European festival
   Sunday, Sept. 9 — St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Parish will hold their annual European Celebration Festival from noon to 6 p.m. at the St. Nicholas Picnic Grove on Norman Avenue in Roebling. The festival will feature music by “John Stanky and the Coalminers,” and European food including homemade cakes and pastries will be sold. Admission cost $2 and children under 12 will be admitted free with parents.

Open house
   Sunday, Sept. 9 — Temple B’nai Abraham in Bordentown will host a Hebrew School and Sunday School open house from 10 a.m. to noon for children ages 5 to 13. Interfaith families are welcome to the event. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet teachers and the rabbi as well as tour the temple.

MOMS Club meeting
   Thursday, Sept. 13 — A MOMS Club meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Come and meet other stay-at-home or part-time working moms in the community. The meeting is open to residents of Roebling, Florence, Bordentown, Fieldsboro and Mansfield. Refreshments will be served and children are always welcome.

carriage rides
   Saturday, Sept. 15 — Take a trip back in time to hear stories of old about Bordentown City on a horse and carriage ride. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children and are limited. Children under 3 are free. The event will take place from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Concert
   Sunday, Sept. 16 — The Downtown Bordentown Association presents the Eastern Wind Symphony, conducted by William Silvester, in concert at 3 p.m. at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center at Bordentown Regional High School, 318 Ward Avenue, Bordentown.

Charter tuna
fishing trip
   Thursday, Sept. 20, to Friday, Sept. 21 — A 30-hour fishing trip is planned for members of the Cookstown and Bordentown areas. The trip will take place from 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. Be at the dock one hour prior to departure.
   The 85-foot long boat sails from Fishermen’s Supply Co., 69 Channel Drive, Point Pleasant Beach. The trip costs $395 per person. The price includes rods, reels, all terminal tackle, bait and gratuity. All fish will also be cleaned and bagged. The fish will be divided evenly so that everyone goes home with some fish.

Café night
   Saturday, Sept. 22 — Holy Assumption Parish, 1290 Hornberger Ave., Roebling, is hosting a café night at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to join us for an evening of live religious chorus entertainment and light refreshments. Admission is free. A good will offering will be accepted. Reservations are required for seating.

Fashion show
   Saturday, Sept. 22 — The Black Experience Committee is preparing a fashion show in conjunction with the Bordentown 325th Anniversary Committee at 6:30 p.m. in the Bordentown Performing Arts Center at Bordentown Regional High School located at 318 Ward Ave, Bordentown.
   It will feature local residents modeling fashions from the 1700s to the present day. There will be a collection of clothing wear from the following eras: 1700’s to 1800’s, 1920’s to 1930’s, 1940’s to 1950’s, 1960’s to 1970’s, 1980’s to 1990 and finally to Y2K.
   In between eras, there will be short interludes of music, skits or readings pertaining to that particular time period. Admission cost $4 for adults and $2 for children under 17lyrs.
