Fire victims thankful for support
To the editor:
On August 2, 2007, our family was on vacation in Chincoteague, Virginia. At 11:50 p.m., we received a phone call to come home because our house was on fire. That call would change everything for us.
We returned home by 5 a.m. Friday to find our home totally destroyed. It was devastating to see our house totally destroyed. It was devastating to see our home of 31 years completely burned.
Although no one was hurt by the fire, our three cats did perish.
Due to the overwhelming outpouring of love and support from our wonderful family, friends and neighbors, we are able to move forward.
With time, we will have our home back.
We want to thank everyone for everything they have done to help get us through this terrible time. Without everyone’s love and support, and especially God’s strength, we would not be able to get through this.
Thank you, everyone, for all you have done for us, and God Bless.

Cycle show earns many thanks
To the editor:
On August 15, the Upper Freehold/Allentown Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse held its Annual Motorcycle Show at Byron Johnson Recreation Area. The event was well-attended with over 90 motorcycles on display. This was our largest motorcycle show to date. Whether it was stopping by to have a snack at the concession stand, buying a raffle ticket, or just walking around enjoying motorcycles from the 40s to the latest high-tech choppers (and one moped), we appreciate your support.
While this was truly a team effort, a special thank you to our Alliance Coordinator, Jason Victor and Alliance Fundraising Chairperson, Sherri Wright for their tireless work in obtaining the sponsors, door prizes, etc. I would also like to thank the participants, Rat Chop Garage for the trophies and judging, Liquid Island for the live entertainment, POP Warner Football for the Concession Stand donation, the vendors, and Allentown police for cruising by throughout the night.
These events provide us the funds to help educate our children on the issues of alcoholism and drug abuse. Support like this from the community directly affects our children’s programs. If you have any questions, or would like to join the Alliance, please contact Jason Victor at 609-758-7738 ext. 230.
