Book Sale: Paperback books for 25 cents and hardbound books for 50 cents. The library accepts donations of hardbound and paperback books that are no more than five years old.
   Magazine swap: Bring old magazines to the library to share with others. All magazines are free.

Sunday crafts: Crafts for kids of all ages every Sunday at the art station in the youth services area. 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
   Free pass program: The library has passes available for checkout for the American Museum of Natural History, Grounds for Sculpture and Popcorn Park Zoo. Passes available to patrons 18 years or older who are in good standing with the library. Call for more information.
   September artist: Lawrence Soffer is the September artist of the month. View a collection of Western photos, including images of the Canadian Rockies, Washington and Colorado. On display this month in the George Ivers Memorial Display Case.
   Music with Pat McKinley: Musical program for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. 11:45 a.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Registration is not required.
   Let’s Talk About It! Jewish Literature: "Mona in the Promised Land" by Gish Jen will be discussed at this month’s meeting. 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Sign up and reserve your copy at the circulation desk.
   F.A.N. Book Discussion: Meet to discuss "The Pilot’s Wife" by Anita Shreve. 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5. Register at the youth services desk.
   Free walk-in films: Thursdays at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 is "Live from Baghdad." Sept. 13 is "Thief of Bagdad." Sept. 20 is "Lawrence of Arabia."
   Breakfast Book Chat: New group will meet monthly to discuss different genres of literature. Patrons are invited to bring in their favorite book of the selected genre and discuss it with the group. This month’s genre is mysteries. 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7. Sign up at the circulation desk. Light refreshments will be served.
   Mother Goose Time: Stories, music, and fun for children between 18 and 36 months old and their caregivers. 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 11:30 a.m. on Fridays, Sept. 7, 21 and 28. Registration is not required.
   Drop-in story times: Program filled with stories, music, and fun for children between 3 and 5 years old. 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Sept. 10, 17 and 24. Registration is not required.
   Night Time Tales: An evening story time for children between 3 and 5 years old. 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25. Registration not required.
   Monday Morning Club: Join us to discuss the latest selection. Book title to be announced. 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 17.
   Arts and crafts: Registration is not required for craft programs. Please stop at the children’s desk for a number and the first 15 children will be accepted. Children between 3 and 5 years old can create a puppet pal at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17. Children between 6 and 8 years old can create dream catchers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Children between 6 and 8 years old can create silly sculptures at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24. Children between 3 and 5 years old can create zoo necklaces at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
   Third- and Fourth-Grade Book Group: Meet to discuss "Frindle" by Andrew Clements. 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Call the library to register and reserve your copy of the book at the youth services desk. Refreshments will be provided.
   Knit Lit Knitting Group: Experienced knitters can receive help with their projects. Knitters bring their own projects and discuss what they are currently reading. Noon on Thursday, Sept. 20. Sign up at the circulation desk.
   Book Nuts: A book discussion for children in second grade. This month’s discussion is about "Stuart Goes to School" by Sarah Pennypaker and Martin Matje. 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20. Call the library to register. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk.
   The Shanghai Experience: The Ricklis Holocaust Memorial Committee will present its annual fall program, featuring Shanghai ghetto survivor Henry Meisel. Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. Learn how 20,000 Jews escape Nazi rule at the beginning of the Holocaust and survived under Japanese occupation in Shanghai. The documentary "Shanghai Ghetto," to which Mr. Meisel was an advisor, will be screened after his talk. Light refreshments will be served. Free tickets available at the circulation desk, limit two per person.
   Great Decisions Discussion Series: This monthly forum will discuss the topic of Central Asia. Can the United States support democracy in Central Asia without endangering its access to the region’s energy supplies? 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Sign up at the circulation desk and reserve your copy of the Briefing Book, which provides historical background and topic information for discussion. Copies of the Briefing Book will also be available for purchase for $15 each.
   Friends of the Library annual meeting: Meeting and tea. 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
   Fifth Grade and Up Book Group: Meet to discuss "Shakespeare’s Secret" by Elise Broach. 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26. Call the library to register and reserve your copy of the book at the youth services desk. Refreshments will be provided.
