Albert J. Hanson
HAMILTON Albert J. Hanson, 80, died Aug. 22 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Providence, R.I., he spent most of his life in the Hightstown area before moving to South Carolina 13 years ago and then returning to New Jersey in December. Mr. Hanson had been a regional vice president of The McGraw-Hill Companies, retiring after more than 25 years.
He was president of the Hightstown Lions Club, a past member of Hightstown Borough Council and a past Hightstown police commissioner. He also dedicated much of his time to the United Way of Greater Mercer County and was an avid golfer.
Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters and sons-in-law Beverly and Dr. Neil Petersen and Barbara and Vincent Serinese; son and daughter-in-law Brett James and Carol Hanson; grandchildren Neil Petersen Jr., Kevin Petersen, Kaitlin Petersen, Timothy Serinese and his wife Lisa, Talia Serinese, Brian Hanson, and Kerri Hanson.
Funeral services were held at the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, followed by burial in East Windsor Cemetery.

Bruce Edward Brown
EAST WINDSOR Bruce Edward Brown Sr., 81, died Aug. 23 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in New York City, he lived in East Windsor the past 36 years. He was a long-standing member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Hightstown.
Mr. Brown served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Antietam during World War II, and after graduating from college served as an officer in the Naval Intelligence Division. He later was employed by Rockefeller Center in New York City, where he was the manager of the Time-Life Building. He retired in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Madge; sons Bruce Jr., Kieran and Russell; daughter Janice; daughter-in-law Emily; grandchildren Courtney and Callie; and twin brother Louis E. Brown of Glen Head, N.Y.
Funeral Services were be held at the A.S. Cole Funeral Home, Cranbury. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Anthony’s church.
Interment followed at the William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Robert Jay Lau
EAST WINDSOR Robert Jay Lau, 56, died at home Aug. 22 after a short illness.
Born in 1951 to Robert and Loretta Shannon Lau of Ewing Township, he had lived in Mercer County all his life and in East Windsor the past year.
He was recently retired from the New Jersey Library for the Blind and Handicapped in Ewing Township, where he had worked 25 years. As a young man he worked as a graphic artist at Princeton University Press.
Mr. Lau studied painting at the School of Visual Arts in New York City after graduating from Ewing High School. His great love was music in all its forms. He especially liked the coronet and the trumpet and had a large collection of wind instruments, many of which he played. He had a comprehensive knowledge of music history, especially the early years of blues and jazz and he knew the life stories and albums of even the most obscure musicians of long ago.
Mr. Lau is survived by his wife of 14 years, Melanie Bolick,; brother and sister-in-law Rex Lau and Diane Mayo of Montauk, N.Y.; his wife’s parents, Mel and Anne Bolick of Pennington; and several cousins.
He was previously married to Alice Russo of Ewing, who preceded him in death.
His ashes were buried in the family plot in Northfield Cemetery in Litchfield, Conn., where a graveside service was held.

Helen T. Karcz Walentine
PRINCETON TOWNSHIP Helen T. Karcz Walentine, 87, died Aug. 24 at St. Joseph’s Residence at Morris Hall, Lawrenceville.
Born in Trenton, daughter of Ignac and Catherine Owczarek Karcz, she was a lifelong resident in the Lawrenceville and Princeton Township area.
She retired in 1971 after 15 years as an electronic assembler for TIA Electronics Company, Princeton.
She was an avid home gardener, seamstress and gourmet cook.
Wife of the late Joseph L. Walentine and sister of the late Harriet Ricatto, she is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and John Wilkinson of East Windsor and Linda J. and Kenneth Kawalek of Lawrenceville; grandsons Christopher Wilkinson, Johnathan Wilkinson and his wife, Amy, and Eric Kawalek and his wife, Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral and liturgy were held in Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Morris Hall, Lawrenceville. Entombment was in the Chapel of the Crucifixion in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hamilton Township.
Arrangements were under the direction of Winowicz Funeral Service.

George H. Dunn
HIGHTSTOWN George H. Dunn, 97, died Sunday at Meadow Lakes Extended Health Care Center.
Born in Passaic, he was a resident of Newfield for 14 years before moving to Castro Valley, Calif., where he loved more than 33 years before moving to Meadow Lakes in 2001.
He was manager of Limpert Brothers of Vineland. Later he joined Clement-Jones Food Brokerage, where in time he became co-owner.
He served on the Newfield Borough Council and later became mayor of Newfield. He was a member and elder of the Christ Community Church in Newfield. He also was a member of the Kiwanis Club and served as lieutenant governor of District 2.
In Castro Valley, he was a member of the Castro Valley Methodist Church.
Predeceased by his wife of 62 years Mabel O. Dunn, he is survived by daughters the Rev. Gaye D. Brown, Claudia D. Koch and Danelia L. Dunn; son G. Jay Dunn; grandchildren Cheri Koch, Susan Brown, Michelle Koch and Dr. Kathryn Eason; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services are private and under the direction of the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, Hightstown.
There will be no calling hours.
