The Manville First Aid and Rescue Squad Auxiliary are once again getting ready for their semi annual flea market and craft show.
The event will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Veterans of Foreign War Post 2290 on Washington Avenue.
Auxiliary president Kathy Erickson said that, while some vendors have registered offering food and arts and crafts, more would be welcome.
The flea market began over 10 years ago as a way to raise funds for the First Aid and Rescue Squad.
”It originally started at outside at Gerber Field but because of the weather we were rained out a couple of times, we moved it to the VFW,” said auxiliary member Betty Cowen.
The flea market and craft show is one of the ways that the auxiliary helps out the First Aid Squad. They have two flea markets a year, a foodfest, a filet mignon dinner and usually work at the annual Manville Business and Professional Association street fair.
But with this year’s street fair cancelled, they will only have the other events to raise the funds.
All of the proceeds from the table spaces, and the food sold in the kitchen along with the bake sale will go to the squad.
Tables for the flea market are $25 for an 8-foot, $30 for a 12-foot, and $15 for a space outside, and can be obtained by calling Ann at 725-2386 or Pauline at 725-1246.
