George Yefchak
DELAWARE George Thomas Yefchak, 58, of Delaware Township died Monday, Aug. 27, at Doylestown (Pa.) Hospital.
Born in Somerville and raised in Bound Brook, Mr. Yefchak lived in Skillman before moving to Delaware Township 14 years ago.
He was a corrections professional with the State of New Jersey for 36 years, serving as the superintendent of the McCorkle Training School for Boys and Girls in Skillman and more recently as the deputy executive director of the New Jersey State Parole Board from which he retired in 2002.
Since July 2002, he has worked with the Kintock Group in Wayne, Pa., where he was serving as a senior director.
He was a 1967 graduate of Bound Brook High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Kutztown State College and received master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Kean University of New Jersey.
Active in both professional and community organizations, Mr. Yefchak was a member of the American Correctional Association and served as president for 12 years of that organization’s New Jersey chapter.
Since 1995 he served on the New Jersey Governor’s Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Committee and was its acting chairman.
He was a member of the Delaware Township Planning Board and had been a member and past president of the Delaware Elementary School Board of Education.
He and his wife served as volunteers with the Interfaith Hospitality Network.
He was the son of the late George and Theresa Winchock Yefchak.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Maureen Farrell Yefchak; his sister, Sharon Yefchak of Belle Mead, N.J.; his sisters-in-law Rosemary Conneway of Tampa, Fla., Kathy Weinroth and her husband, Richard, of Hopewell Township and Jeanette Corwin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his brother-in-law and his wife, Matthew and Mary Farrell of St. Petersburg; his nieces and nephews, Dennis Conneway, Kellie Wilson, Colleen Conneway, Michael Conneway, Matthew Farrell, Allison Farrell, Lyndsay Farrell, Kimberly Snyder and Charles Scott Jr.; and nine grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Church in Lambertville. Burial followed at Sandy Ridge Church Cemetery in Delaware Township.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, Lambertville.

Filomena Carnevale
PRINCETON Filomena Tamasi Carnevale of Princeton, 76, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, while vacationing in her hometown of Pettoranello di Molise, Italy.
Born in Pettoranello di Molise, Mrs. Carnevale immigrated to America with her husband and children and had been a Princeton resident since 1952.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Princeton.
Daughter of the late Nicola and Giuseppina Rossi Tamasi, she is survived by her husband of 59 years, Raffaele Carnevale; a daughter Ermelinda Carnevale of Princeton, and her children, Howard Anderson and Michael Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas R. and Beth A. Carnevale of Princeton, and their daughters, Alisandra Carnevale and Nicolina Carnevale; a sister and brother-in-law, Bambina and Nicholas Carnevale, and their children, Sebastiano and Patricia Carnevale, Linda and David Platas and Nicholas and Sheila Carnevale Jr. of Lambertville; her sisters-in-law Filomena and Antonio Procaccini, Antonietta and Almerindo Sferra, Annunziatta Antenucci, Vincenzo and Gennaro Buono; and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins in Italy, Canada and Argentina.
The funeral was held Saturday at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home Princeton. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at the church. Entombment followed in Princeton Cemetery.

Dorothy Savidge
WASHINGTON, Vt. Dorothy Bogert Savidge, 92, died Monday, Aug. 27, in Sewell, N.J.
Born in Wycoff, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Ella Hoover and Leroy Duthie Bogert.
Ms. Savidge attended school in Hackensack, N.J., and graduated from Trenton State College in 1935 with a degree in elementary education.
She and her family were residents of the Hopewell Township-Lambertville area for many years.
She taught elementary School in the Pt. Pleasant, N.J., West Amwell and Hopewell Township school systems.
She was the widow of George S. Savidge, to whom she was married 70 years and who died March 27, and her sister, Thelma Roby.
She was a member of the United Church of Chelsea, Vt., active in the Senior Citizens of Chelsea and a member of the Green Mountain Hooking Guild.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and James Jefferis of Monroeville, N.J., her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Mary of Washington, Vt., Peter and Brenda of Princeton, Paul of Falmouth Foreside, Maine, and Mark of Chelsea, Vt.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Highland Cemetery, Hopewell. A remembrance service on a date to be announced will be held in Chelsea.

Belle Riordan
LAMBERTVILLE Belle Elizabeth McCarty Riordan, 98, died Friday at the Pickering Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Uhlerstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Jenny McCarty. She was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers, Alice, Bessie, Lillis, Frank, Carrie, Emma, John and William.
Ms. Riordan was a devoted wife to her husband, Francis “Sin” Riordan, for 48 years before his death in 1986. They enjoyed their retirement, traveling to Hawaii and taking cruises to the Caribbean. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She lived in Lambertville most of her life and was a very community-minded person, working with many of Lambertville’s charitable organizations.
She was active for many years in the Altar and Rosary Society of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, and was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge 1070 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 120, for more than 60 years.
She worked in the defense plant of General Motors in Ewing Township during World War II and also ushered at the Lambertville Music Circus for several years.
The funeral was held Tuesday from the Garefino Funeral Home, Lambertville. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Lambertville. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.

John Ott Jr.
SCOTRUN, Pa. John Vincent Ott Jr., 62, of Scotrun, formerly of Lambertville, N.J., died Aug. 30 at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
He lived in Monroe County for the last eight years, having moved from Lambertville.
He worked for the Yale Corp. in Flemington, N.J., the A.M. Best Truck Stop in Bartonsville and the Roadrunner Gas Station in Tannersville.
Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John V. Ott Sr., he was predeceased by his son, Carmen Ott, who died in 1997. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Carol and Clarence Bowker of Scotrun; his son and his wife, John V. III and Carol Ott of Lambertville; and his daughter-in-law, Patti Ott of Phillipsburg, N.J.; his four grandchildren, Chad Bowker, Timothy Bowker, John V. Ott IV and Marissa Ott; his sister, Myrtle Merrit of New Mexico; his former wife, Gail Ott of Scotrun; his five step-grandchildren and his 17 step-great-grandchildren.
Cremation services were private.

Bertram Miller
WEST AMWELL Bertram B. Miller, 65, died Aug. 30 at his residence.
Born in Elizabeth, he was the son of the late Bertram N. Miller and Grace Seymour Miller.
He was the third generation owner and president of B.B. Miller & Co., an insurance firm founded in 1901 in Elizabeth by his grandfather and then run by his father. He retired in 2005 after 40 years. The firm is now owned and operated by his daughter, Merritt Duffy, representing the fourth generation.
A corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1964, Mr. Miller was very involved in the community and served as past president of the following organizations: the Elizabeth Rotary Club, the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce, the Union County Independent Insurance Agents Association, the Amwell Valley Conservancy Inc. and Angler’s Anonymous.
Additionally, Mr. Miller served as director of the following: Elizabeth YMCA, the Tuscarora Club of Millbrook, United Jersey Bank and Summit Bank. He was a member of the Union Township, Hunterdon County school board, a trustee of the 200 Club of Union County and a governor of the Nassau Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Louise Huff Miller; three daughters and three sons, Gretchen Anderson, Merritt Duffy, Megan Larsen, B. Nick Miller, Blake Larsen and Miles Larsen; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Sarah K. Miller and Judith Colie.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville, 31 N. Union St., Lambertville, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington.
Interment will be private and there are no calling hours.

Wayne Johnson
CAPE CORAL, Fla. Wayne R. Johnson, 79, of Cape Coral, died Sept. 1.
Born in Lambertville, N.J., he and his wife, Lois, moved to Cape Coral in 1985.
He was a federal firefighter at McGuire Air Force Base for 30 years. He retired as the vice president of the 16th District, Local 106. He was a volunteer with the Fleetwing Hook and Ladder Company in Lambertville and was a member of the drum and bugle corps, the Volunteers.
He was a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois E. Snyder Johnson; two daughters, Rhonda L. Berg, of Fort Myers, and Wendy L. Johnson, of Cape Coral; and three grandchildren, Evan S. Berg at Bethany College in West Virginia, Heather L. Berg at Stetson University in Deland and Camille C. Johnson, who attends Evangelical Christian School in Fort Myers.
A memorial service was held Tuesday at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
