The Latin American Task Force and the Princeton Public Library are co-sponsoring free citizenship classes to prepare immigrants for the Naturalization Interview required as part of the process of becoming a United States Citizen. Civics and U.S. History will be taught and Basic English necessary for the interview will be reviewed.
The classes will meet Wednesday evenings 7-8:30 p.m. in the conference room on the second floor of the library in October and November. Registration will take place at the first session on October 3, 2007.
While the classes are free, students will be expected to purchase a copy of the textbook to practice the material discussed.
When these classes were offered in the spring 2007, immigrants participated from Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Liberia, Mexico, Peru and Taiwan. Several students successfully passed their Naturalization Interviews and are now American Citizens.
