A bomb threat caused Marlboro police to close Home Depot in the Cambridge Square shopping center, Route 9 north and Union Hill Road, on Aug. 22.
On the day of the incident Marlboro police Lt. Steve Mennona confirmed that a bomb threat had been made that morning at Home Depot.
He said that after the threat was received the building was evacuated and officers from the Monmouth County Sheriff ‘s Office responded to the scene with bomb-sniffing dogs.
Following a search of the premises the area was deemed safe and employees and customers were allowed to return to the store.
According to Marlboro police reports, the store had been receiving numerous prank telephone calls that morning. It was during the last call that a young man said there was a bomb inside the store.
Mennona said the incident remains under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
