Resident asks township voters to look beyond party politics

Elana Broch of Springwood Drive
I have followed the controversy surrounding the Clean Campaign Pledge proposed by the Republican candidates, Bob Bostock, Marie Tagliaferri and Falk Engel. Ultimately, the Democrats signed one pledge and the Republicans another. With all the severe issues facing our country and township, I hope we can get beyond the question of whose campaign pledge is better and move on to address the real issues that loom ahead.
I encourage all voters in Lawrence (and if you’re eligible to vote and not registered, shame on you) to familiarize themselves with the issues and the candidates, above and beyond the politics of campaign pledges. Regardless of which pledge the candidates signed, let’s do what’s right for Lawrence.
I have always voted as a Democrat and — in spite of the fiasco in Washington under the current Republican administration — I have taken the time to explore what the township Republicans have to offer. I am fortunate to have Bob as a neighbor and am excited about his vision for Lawrence Township.
I hope all the voters of Lawrence can go beyond party politics and judiciously exercise their right to participate in a clean election as an informed voter. In a town where the wait at the Joes’s Barber Shop or the Village Bakery or Peggy Sue’s is longer than at the polling booth, it is time to get out and vote on Nov. 6.
