Mildred M. Yeck
FLORENCE Mildred M. McHugh Yeck, 88, died Friday in Lourdes Medical Center, Burlington.
She retired from the State of New Jersey, Department of Labor, and was a member of the Order Eastern Star, Bordentown Chapter 257.
She was an avid knitter and made many beautiful afghans for family and friends. She spent 20 enjoyable years of retirement with her husband in Wrightsville Beach, N.C.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Adam Yeck, her parents, James and Edna Ross McHugh, and two sisters, Ednamae Sclocco and Helen Bond. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Robert Zulli of Florence and Kristin and Steven McClenney of Willingboro; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
A private funeral was held under the direction of the Mullen Funeral Home, Trenton.
Patricia Johanna Ranucci
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP Patricia Johanna Costello Ranucci, 82, died Friday in Samaritan Hospice in Virtua Health Medical Center.
Born in Riverside, Mrs. Ranucci was a longtime Hamilton area resident, where she owned Patty’s Place Ceramic and Gift Shop. She had resided in Springfield for the last 18 years. She was a former member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Hamilton Senior Citizens Club, the Red Hatters of Mansfield, the Doll Club, and was a sponsor of the Patty’s Place team with the Hamilton Youth Boys Soccer Club.
She was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed cooking, and making and collecting dolls.
Predeceased by her husband, Ernest Ranucci, her grandson, Ryan Dunn, her son-in-law, Gary Kater, and 11 brothers and sisters, she is survived by four loving daughters and three sons-in-law, Joanne and Dave Moore, Helen Kater, Lorraine and Reynold Funari, and Patty and Bernard Dunn; nine grandchildren, David Moore, Tricia Colella, Stephanie Kater-Colon, Robert and Michael Hageman, Lauren Dunn, Lisa Willever, Anthony and Paula Funari; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Jillian, DJ, Jessica, Patrick, Liam, Timothy and Conor; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Tuesday at the Saul Colonial Home, Hamilton Square. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, New Egypt. Entombment followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
Julia Ann Flynn
BORDENTOWN Julia Ann Flynn, 84, passed away Sept. 6 in Thornton, Colo.
She was born to Michael and Julia Danko on Jan. 4, 1923 in Scranton, Pa. Originally from New York City, she and her husband, Tom, lived most of their lives in Bordentown.
Julia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas J. Flynn; two sons, Thomas C. Flynn & Joseph P. Flynn; her sister Elizabeth Fischer; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Chapel of the Resurrection Funeral Home in Bothell, Wash. Mrs. Flynn will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.
Verna Block
HAMILTON Verna (Lozak) Block, 94, died Sept. 5 at The Compassionate Care Hospice.
She was born in New Brunswick and was an area resident most of her life. She and her late husband owned and operated the White City Market in Hamilton for many years.
Daughter of the late Steve and Mari Lazok and wife of the late George Block, she is survived by sons Gary Block at home and Donald Block and wife Judy of Merritt Island, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law Eleanor and Joseph D’Amico of Hamilton; grandchildren Joann Schroeder and husband Dale of Bordentown, Terri Verderese and husband Paul of Hamilton, Donald Block of Canaveral Groves, Fla., Joseph D’Amico Jr. and wife Susan of Cocoa, Fla.; and great-grandchildren Danielle and Dara Schroeder, Anthony, Ashley, Alyssa (all Verderese), and Joseph S., Mario, Christina (all D’Amico).
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Ewing Cemetery Chapel, Ewing Township. Memorial contributions can be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 6th Floor Unit, 601 Hamilton Ave., Trenton, NJ 08629. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kingston and Kemp Funeral Home, Hamilton.
John E. Guria
BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP John E. "Jack" Guria, 78, of Burlington Township died Sept. 2 at home.
Born in the Harlem section of Manhattan, N.Y., he also lived in Queens, N.Y., and spent the remainder of his life in the Florence and Burlington Township area.
Mr. Guria was a self-employed truck driver for most of his life and worked part time for Nades Auto Auction in Bordentown. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, in which he served two tours of duty. Mr. Guria was a member of the Fort Dix Swim Club and liked jazz, gardening and working with anything mechanical.
Husband of the late Hazel Harris Guria, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon Tonette Roy of Burlington Township; step-son, Willie Jackson of Florence; sister, Rosilia Barrow of Queens, N.Y.; brother Charles (Joan) Lang of Florida; four grandchildren, Damon (Donna) Jackson of White Plains, N.Y., Nina Guria of Beverly, Nicole Roy of Bensalem, Pa., and Natalie Roy of Edgewater Park; and five great-grandchildren, Kala, Nala, Kashawn, Zori and Leyla. Additionally, he leaves two brothers-in-law, Saul (Eva) Harris and Charles Harris; all of Roebling; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held Friday at the Dennison Funeral Home in Florence. Interment was held in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Florence. Contributions in his memory may be sent to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive (Suite 300), Marlton, NJ 08053.
Ronald Stalcup
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – Ronald Stalcup, 65, died Aug. 30 at Community Hospital of New Port Richey, New Port Richey, Fla.
Mr. Stalcup was born in Trenton and moved to Florida from Hamilton Township in 1990. He was a self-employed contractor in aluminum siding and home improvement in New Jersey for more than 30 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Edgar and Thelma Stalcup, and his sister Joan Cox. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret "Peggy" Stalcup; his sons, Ronald Stalcup of Florida and Edgar and his wife Luz of New Port Richey, Fla.; his brother Edgar Stalcup of Robbinsville; his sisters, Karen Stalcup Finch of Hamilton and Bunny Martens of Ohio; his grandson Justin and his granddaughter Kayla, both of New Port Richey; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services were held in Florida.
