Democrats Janet Krommes and Robert A. Giangrasso are running for two open seats on the Hopewell Township Committee this November

Democrats Janet Krommes, MD, of Todd Ridge Road, Titusville, and Robert A. Giangrasso, of Chicory Lane, Brandon Farms, are running for two open seats on the Hopewell Township Committee this November.
Dr. Janet Krommes is a practicing physician specializing in rheumatology and internal medicine. Now a 52-year-old grandmother of two, she embarked on her path to medical school after her two sons started attending school full-time. She graduated from Rider University summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and then from Temple University School of Medicine, where she won the Durant Award, given annually to the person who best exemplifies the ideal physician.
After completing training in internal medicine and rheumatology, she was appointed assistant professor of medicine in the Section of Rheumatology at Temple University’s School of Medicine in 1995. During her tenure at Temple, she served as associate section chief and fellowship training director for the section of rheumatology, and was named by "Philadelphia Magazine" as one of the "Top Docs" for women. She is married to Dr. John A. Krommes, a physics professor at Princeton University.
Robert Giangrasso, 56, is the recipient of the New Jersey Public Service Co-Worker Recognition Award. He works as an administrative analyst 1 with the state Department of Transportation, developing budgets and performing cost analyses designed to maximize return-on-investment. Prior to that, he was a manager with the state Motor Vehicle Commission, and was trained as a hearing officer for the state Department of Public Safety.
He does volunteer work for the Brandon Farms Property Owners Association, which represents more than 1,200 homes in the Valley. As president of the association, he serves as its chief executive officer, responsible for: fiscal oversight of the association’s budget; managing staff and interfacing with vendors to maintain the Brandon Farms infrastructure, from snow removal to building modifications; and protecting the long-term property values of the community’s citizens.
A former basketball referee under the IAABO (International Association of Approved Basketball Officials), his commitment to recreational and sports programs is manifested in his volunteer work as a coach with the Hopewell Valley Basketball Association, and as a long-time Cub Scout leader (Hopewell Township Pack 556). He also has been an active supporter of CUSP, Citizens United for Safe Passage, a nonpartisan group of parents that formed when the Hopewell Valley Regional School Board opted to eliminate hazardous school busing for more than 1,000 children last spring.
Mr. Giangrasso earned an MBA from Ryder University, a bachelor’s degree from the College of New Jersey, plus a New Jersey Certified Public Manager designation from Rutgers University and the state Department of Personnel. He and his wife Anne Marie have three children, who attend Stony Brook Elementary School.
