South River Parks and Recreation will hold registration for its fall programs from 7-8:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 14 in the South River Elementary/Middle School auxiliary gym, Johnson Place. All checks should be made payable to the Borough of South River, unless otherwise indicated.
“Street Hockey,” developed with the assistance of the New Jersey Devils for fun and instruction, is open to borough residents ages 5-16. Participants, who will play in sneakers and are required to purchase their own helmets with facemask, must be enrolled in school. Teams will be grouped by ages. Games will be played on Saturdays, and practices will be coordinated between each coach and the rec department. Fee is $25. “Women’s Aerobics” is planned for 7-p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Elementary School auxiliary gym. Register in advance or sign up before the start of the first class on Sept. 25. Fee is $30; late registrants will not receive a price adjustment.
“Men’s Fitness,” open to ages 16 and up, is set for 7-8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Elementary School auxiliary gym. Register in advance or sign up before the start of the first class on Sept. 24. Fee is $30; late registrants will not receive a price adjustment.
“Kinder Soccer,” open to girls and boys ages 3-prekindergarten, will be held early Friday afternoons at the Veterans Drive soccer field. FunFitness will conduct the classes. There will be eight 45-minute classes, with each participant receiving a certificate and a medal. Fee is $88. Checks should be made payable to FunFitness.
Karate introductory programs are open to new students only who are residents of South River. All sessions will be held at the Y.B. Choi Karate Center, South River. “Kids Taekwondo Adventure,” for boys and girls ages 6-10 (must be age 6 by Sept. 22) is set for 10-11 a.m. on Saturdays beginning Sept. 22. Fee is $38. Dress code is white T-shirt and black pants. “Cardio Kickboxing Fitness” is planned for 6:15- 7:15 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning Sept. 24. Fee is $38; cost is two for $50 when signing up two friends or parent and child (age 7 and up).
Recreation soccer is open to boys and girls who are South River residents. Participants must be 5 years old by July 31. Season will begin the third week in September and run through the middle of November. Fee is $65 for one child, $75 for two, $90 for three. Checks should be made payable to Zebulon America Inc. The 27th annual Frost on the Pumpkin 10K Road Race is set for Oct. 28.
