The Hillsborough High gymnastics team opened the 2007 season with a fabulous performance, sweeping Bridgewater-Raritan and Montgomery in Friday’s tri-meet in Bridgewater.
HHS junior Chrissy Weber posted great scores on three routines and finished with a fine 36.85 score in the all-around. Weber led the Raiders on vault (9.15), bars (9.55) and floor (9.4) and won the all-around to help her squad post its highest opening meet score (108.7) in school history.
Freshman Brittany Marcsisin enjoyed a successful scholastic debut, finishing second all-around with an impressive 36.25. Marcsisin scored 9.15 on vault, 9.25 on bars, 9.0 on beam and 8.825 on floor. She was the only member of the team to count a score in all four routines.
Several other HHS girls got involved in the scoring. Christina Rhoades posted an 8.85 on vault and 8.825 on beam. Other vault scores came from Erica Reiss (8.4) and Megan Goldschmidt (8.525).
Freshman Amanda Curry nailed her bars routine (8.525). Reiss also competed on bars (8.225), setting the tone for the meet with a solid routine.
Two girls stuck their beam routines — Marcsisin and Jess Leinbach (8.95). Mary-Kate Lynch counted scores on beam (8.975) and floor (9.1).

Hillsborough also received team points from last year’s first doubles players, who have moved up to the second and third singles slots. Caitlyn Katzelnick defeated Alicia Faig 6-1, 6-2 and Mae Ling Strang topped Katherine Tsung in a tough 6-4, 7-5 match.
