The beginning of a school year is stressful for all parents. This is particularly true for parents of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD). In celebration of National AD/HD Awareness Day, Sept 19th 2007, we wish to thank the Princeton resources that support our chapterFor the 4.4 million Americans, ages 4-17 diagnosed with AD/HD, life can be quite difficult. It can also be stressful for their parents, who have the responsibility of making sure their children have the proper classroom accommodations, are receiving the treatment they need , and are feeling good about themselves despite the problems they may face.
National experts say that support for parents of children with the disorder is very important.”Parents of children with AD/HD need to know they are not alone,” said E. Clarke Ross, CEO of CHADD, a national organization advocating for people with the disorder. “CHADD offers information and support through our 200 local affiliates. Our members are part of a social movement to change the way society treats people with AD/HD.”
As coordinator of our c ounty’s CHADD Chapter, I wish to thank the many publications in the Princeton / Mercer county area for getting our message out so brilliantly. We appreciate the service you provide to our local citizens with your excellent and thorough reporting and information distribution. In addition, The Princeton Public Library has been a valuable partner in our CHADD mission to support AD/HD family member s with information. Our chapter has been donating AD/HD books to the library to expand the access to information for all residents.
We thank the Library for recognizing National AD/HD Awareness Day, September 19th, 2007, by displaying Books and CHADD information on the main floor. We hope you can stop by to get more information. You can join our local monthly CHADD meetings, they are open to everyone. To find our topics, dates, and times email [email protected], or got to to http://www.chadd.org/.
