Area businesses support senior center

MANALAPAN – Free line-dancing classes are being offered to members of the Manalapan Senior Center, Route 522, on Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon.

These classes were donated by local businesses interested in supporting a program at the senior center.

On hand to kick off the classes were representatives from many of the businesses: Adonis Men’s Spa, Bagel World, Bus Tickets, Carlo’s Pizza, Fresh Petals, Glen’s Eye Care, Jem Jewelers, La Ritz Cleaners, Mixed Greens, Panda House and Video Home Center, which are all in the Bagel World Shopping Center, 356 Route 9 north.

Elaine McNamara, senior citizen director, accepted the check on behalf of the senior center to applause from the seniors as the business owners were introduced.

“Our members are very excited about the new class and especially pleased that these local businesses are giving back to the community,” McNamara said.

Richard Macciola of Adonis Men’s Spa said, “It is important to give a little bit back to these citizens who have built our community and given so much to this nation.”

The classes are taught by dance instructor Leslie Clare, who teaches line dancing at several senior centers throughout Monmouth County.

The owners of Fresh Petals also donated a red, white and blue wreath for the lobby of the senior center in honor of Patriots Day and the commemoration of 9/11.
