Volunteer deserves recognition for work on gardens

Iwas honored to be in attendance for the dedication of the veterans memorial on Labor Day in Marlboro. It was a meaningful tribute to those from our community who have served their country, and it was especially impressive to see the salute of the veterans from World War II.

I was, however, disappointed that Maria Kramer, the master gardener who organized the gardens, did not receive the acknowledgements that she deserved. Maria spent nearly 800 volunteer hours on the project. That is the equivalent of 20 weeks of full-time work. Given her horticultural expertise, that represents an equivalent of about $20,000 worth of services volunteered to the township.

I salute Maria Kramer for her contribution and for the excellence of her work, and I hope the Township Council will acknowledge it also, with at least a resolution of commendation.
