ALLENTOWN Elizabeth Wright Meirs, 90, died Saturday at Compassionate Care Hospice in St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton.
Born at Merino Hill Farm, Dr. Meirs graduated from Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pa., and later was awarded an honorary degree from her alma mater. After earning a secretarial degree from Rider College, she worked at Dupont for three years before embarking on graduate work at Vassar and Yale Divinity School, where she attained a Doctor of Divinity degree.
Dr. Meirs was the principle founder and organizer of the Friends of Olde Yellow Meeting House near Imlaystown. Her efforts led to the restoration of the meeting house and parsonage during the 1980s. She was a longtime active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hightstown.
Daughter of the late Henry H. Wright and Mary S. Ridgeway, and sister of the late Mary S. Wright, she is survived by her husband, William R. Meirs, Jr.; her brother, Richard R. Wright of Crosswicks; a niece, Anne R. Wright of Milwaukee, Wis.; a nephew, Richard S. Wright, and his wife, Judith, of Crosswicks; four grandnieces and six great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Internment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
